Remembering Our Heroes

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and Hawaldar Gajendra Singh, both NSG commandos, laid down their lives today (28th Nov ’08), defending their people and their country in Mumbai.

They are not the first of our brave men…They will not be the last.

In these trying times, let us spare a thought for the mothers who will never see their sons, the children who will never hear their father again and the wives who will only be left with memories of their loved ones.

Please think of them and contribute generously.

You can contribute directly by cheque/drafts to the Army Central Welfare Fund.

When you have a moment, please also read:  “Let’s salute a real “Hero”and Of Stars and Martyrs, Munnabhai vs. Manish Pitambare.

* There are many others who lost their lives in the entire operation…including ATS Chief Karkare, ACP Kamte and a dozen other policemen.

I salute them all.

May their souls rest in peace. May God give their families and loved ones the strength and fortitude to cope with the calamity.

Jai Hind.

Angry scenes witnessed at slain NSG Major’s residence

…Angry scenes were witnessed at slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s residence in Bangalore on Sunday night when the family shut the doors before Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanandan who went to meet them to offer condolences.

The commando’s father Unnikrishnan, who hails from Kerala’s Kozhikode, remained firm that no politician should enter his house and refused to meet Achutanandan and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Unnikrishnan refused to allow police sniffer dogs into the house when security personnel came there ahead of the Kerala Chief Minister’s visit.

…The Chief Minister and the government had been facing criticism for the delay in showing respect to Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who died fighting the terrorists in Mumbai. [ link ]

the comments of comrade VS Achutanadan is in very poor taste and totally uncalled for….

it is indeed very sad to see that the hon’ble chief minister of kerala who had to come to a brave matrys house accompanied by his full security detail….i fail to understand who was he threatened by in Shaheed Maj Sandeep’s house….

today politicians across the board have made it a prestige issue to have the best security as a status symbol whereas the common people and the taxpayer die on the streets be it in mumbai or delhi or surat…

i really wish and hope we have a leader like kamal attaturk or even barrack obama hwo could unify the nation and act tough in these times of sorrow and pain

    More Heroes:

Lets Stand up and Salute ASI Tukaram Omble

…Other than the three top cops of Mumbai police, Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar who were killed in the recent attack on Mumbai by terrorists, people have forgotten a real hero. Tukaram Omble, 48, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), the only cop who with his daredevil courage was helped in the nabbing of a terrorist on 26/11 alive.

Omble overtook the Skoda (nr Chowpatty) and stopped in front of it, forcing the driver of the car to change the direction towards right and hit the divider.

With one terrorist busy controlling the car, Omble sprang on other terrorist, Amir Kasab and caught hold of the barrel of the AK-47 rifle with both hands. In retaliation Kasab pulled the trigger of the gun,
whose barrel was pointed towards Omble.

A spray of bullets entered Omble’s stomach and intestines. But the latter held on to the gun until his last breath, stopping Kasab from shooting anyone else.

In next to no time other cops arrived and killed another terrorist, Ismail, pounced on Kasab and captured him.Investigating agencies were successful in gathering lot of information from the sole terrorist who has been arrested. But this was only possible because of Omble’s daredevil move.

Omble is survived by his wife and four daughters. He is a real hero, who has been forgotten by people as well as the politicians who are busy in resigning and giving up their responsibilities rather than to fight against such terrorism.

    And a nameless commando:

By the time dawn broke, the commandos had successfully secured our corridor. A young commando led out the people packed into Anjali’s room.
When one woman asked whether it was safe to leave, the commando replied: “Don’t worry, you have nothing to fear. The first bullets have to go through me.”

  5. Indian says:

Yes because of T. Omble, today we have all evidences and captured terroritsts. Else it would have been lost case like any other attack in past.

Salute! to T. Omble. And pray, his soul rest in peace.

    Jai Hind!
