Pakistan: A State-sponsor of Terrorism?

Came across this news-report yesterday and wondered whether there is now sufficientevidence todeclare Pakistan a state-sponsor of terrorism?

Elements of Pakistan’s ISI and its paramilitaries are actively backing Taliban insurgents and if their sanctuaries in the country are not eliminated, the efforts of the US and its allies to stabilise and rebuild Afghanistan will be in jeopardy, a leading US think-tank has warned.

The study by Rand Corporation, funded by the US Department of Defence, finds that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate and Frontier Corps have failed to root out Afghan insurgent groups…in some cases, individuals from these Pakistani organisations have provided direct assistance to such groups as the Taliban and Haqqani network.

…Pointing to the growing list of terrorist attacks and foiled plots in the US, UK, Germany, Denmark, and Spain, US intelligence agencies have identified terrorist plots stemming from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region as perhaps the single most important threat to America’s security. [ link]

Not that any of this isnew…

I have been harping on this theme for more than two years now but, as they say in French, plus ca change.. 🙁

From an unrelated report, I learn that “…there are at least 200 entities in Pakistan raising funds for terror operations…”

…According to the IB, there are at least 200 entities in Pakistan raising funds for terror operations. The afore-mentioned document suggests that the nexus between Indian gangsters and Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence, the ISI, agency is also getting stronger by the day.

…The government document also notes that the ISI has been stoking increased militancy in Punjab and the north-eastern states.

Since 2006 several terror cells set up by the ISI have been neutralised in Kashmir, forcing it to look beyond. The ISI then re-launched its Operation Pin Code and Operation Topac with a view to destabilising the entire country. That is where Punjab and the north-east come in.

…The first stage in Topac and Pin Code involves low-level insurgency through placing operatives in key locations across the country with a view to subverting the police force, communication networks, and financial institutions.

Phase two, which is underway, deals with stepping up terror in the border areas and elsewhere, through the Afghan mujahideen and Bangla militants who will have entered the country to carry out terror strikes.

Knowing the way the UPA government functions, I do not expect to see any action on this or other similar reports…Where does that leave us?

As I mentioned in one of my earliestposts on this subject (“All roads lead toIslamabad“),

Sadly, the prevalent atmosphere in New Delhi and a government obsessed with bhai-chara and peace process suggests that the government either does not believe in facts on the ground or is being driven by a different agenda.

Thanks to modern technology though, we, as common citizens, are more empowered today to try and influence behaviours and perceptions than ever before.

Let us put these resources to good use and spread the message Hopefully a point will be reached when no government will be able to ignore the groundswell of public opinion.

The message that we must forcefully repeat is this:

  • Pakistan isa state-sponsor of terrorism
  • It is responsible for nuclear proliferation in Iran and North Korea
  • The ISI has been the god-father of Al-Qaeda and continues to support and sponsor jihadi activities, including in Kashmir
  • Pakistans madrassas harbour a growing number of jihadi terrorists and fanatics who will stop at nothing in their quest for total domination*

It is high time that the regime in Pakistan is recognised for what it is a supra-terrorist organization and dealt with appropriately.

*P.S. If you thought I am being dramatic, read how schools in Pakistan are turningintonurseriesof bombers

London, May 20 (2008): Al-Qaeda-linked militants have transformed a Government-run school in the restive tribal region of Pakistan into a nursery for suicide bombers, training children as young as nine-year-old.

It was like factory that had been recruiting nine to 12-year-old boys and turning them into suicide bombers, Maj Gen Tariq Khan, the commander of the division that captured the area, was quoted in The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday as saying.

The camp was located in a territory in South Waziristan where the notorious Pakistani Taliban commander, Baitullah Mehsud, operates.

At another location, military investigators found film footage on a DVD that they believed depicts children at the school being trained in suicide bombing.

Maj Gen Athar Abbas, the armys chief spokesman, said that the school and a hospital had been taken over by militants to prepare children for suicide attacks and for making improved explosive devices (IEDS).

Just by threats, the Muslims of united India got a separate homeland where through ethnic cleansing they have converted Pakistan into dar-ul-islam.

But Hindus not only lost large chunk of land but also burdened with left over Muslims with medieval jihad mentality. But one should appreciate the dare ness of Indian Muslims who resort to violence against Hindus amidst whom they are living, if a Muslim in a far away land is affected.

For instance when Saddam Hussein was hanged (by the Americans) Muslims in Bangalore held a rally and turned violent against the Hindus for no reason. As usual the government for the sake of votes did not take any action against the perpetrators of violence.

Unlike a Hindu child, a Muslim child grows up in a violence filled atmosphere, his father abusing his mother, killing animals in the name of sacrifice (I wonder would the Muslims had killed their children if God had accepted Abraham’s son as offering instead of sheep during Bakrid) and their mullah’s propagation that by killing non Muslims they will go to Jannat.

The Muslims also know that Hindus basically hate bloodshed. The Pakistanis know this weakness and also that of the Indian government governed by secularists/communists who are ready to sell the country for the sake of staying in power.

The Pakistanis know they can get away with their antics as for the sake of Muslim votes the secular/communist government of India will not take any action against them under the pressure of Indian Muslims.

If the present situation continues the day will not be far when India become dar-ul-islam.

    Dear Sir,
I think the time is very ripe for “bharatiys” to come out and help the these misguided people who are misled into the wrong path.
Many of them are understanding that they have been treated as vote banks and missed the bus, by listening to the “Cone Speakers” of all types.
If I am not away from the mark, even Muslims have voted for the BJP during, both the Karnataka and Gujarat elections.
This means that some of them are becoming aware that they have been treated unfairly by many in the past. They have come to understand that all these Teestas, Shabnas, Javeds,Agniveshes etc. are pushing their names and agendas rather than of the people they are supposed to be supporting for a cause.
The iron is hot and if we “Bharatiyas” strike, the threat of Pakistan sponsored terrorism can be vanquished.
It will be a beginning, but the “Minorityism” of Gandhi can be destroyed slowly and they can be brought to be as “Bharatiyas” also.
    Regards,
    vck

The new argument by certain new founded intellectuals,Pseudo Secularists and certain politically (chronic) biased media like CNN-IBN and NDTV etc.in India arguing that poverty and opression of minortiy community is the root cause of the Islamic Terrorism.

Being a fellow citizen of this country,I absoultely rubbish those arguments. It is again just an escapism to put the blame always on Hindu Majority.

India remains one of the poorest countries in the world today.750 Million people are in utter poverty in this country. Does it mean that all of them are terrorists or they think adapting to terrorism can take away their poverty??

Look at Pakistan, A purely Islamic nation, today that country is flooded with terrorists and extremists.Bombs are exploded there and human lives are being lost everyday. Is it because of poverty? Is it because of so called “oppression of minority there”? People should think about it.The root cause of this terrorism is Dirty politics being played in respective countries for personal gains by certain section of politicians and religious fundamentalists. Nothing else.

Pakistan initiated the terrorism for political bargaining and they will end with it because it is now out of any one’s control. “Those who live with Sword would die with it”

Contradictory, being an Islamic nation Malaysia is a good exemption why because the prosperity in that country and there development and national integrity comes first Not crooked politics.

Just by comparing Malaysia and Pakistan one could easily differentiate why terrorism sustains and why not. Even being autocratic, in certain GCC (not the whole Middle East) countries, do bomb explodes there??? Is there human lives are lost so freely and intermittently???

As long as you appease and appease a certain community for political gain this phenomenon will continue. No doubt. India is the best example.

Implement the UNIFORM CIVIL CODE and treat all citizens equally irrespective of their religion, cast, creed etc.thereby appeasement,
vote bank politics ,accusations of oppression, suppression etc. will stop, till then it will bleed.

That day I can say India will be a Superpower.

Pseudo Secular Congress politicians, comic politicians like Lalu,Paswan,Mulayam etc.(there is no shortage in this country)and Shabnam Hashmi,John Dayal like crooked social activists should stop abusing people of Hindu religion or the so called
    “Majority”.

    Dear sir,
All these problems are known and thorughly discussed in the media. Some pseudo secular channel propper by crypto communists and bootlickers of the west would go repeating the lie of disadvantaged taking recurse to terrorism out of nil choice. This is all intellectual obfuscation. Right now Pakistani economy is in melt down and every true Indian should welcome this. Provoke him (Pakis ) to a war posing as weak and pounce on him to deal a deadly blow . The war should b over in 10 days sharp. No point reminescing that we have too many things common.

  5. tarique says:

why waste our money bombing pakistan . they are doing it with their own money. and if anybody thought that pakistan was an islamic nation , then take a closer look . the majority of innocents killed everyday are poorer class muslims . i was always told that jihadi mentality was all about killing non muslims . infact , here is a best example of the most inhuman kind of dirty politics . the hindu minority in pakistan is too microscopic to make any electoral differences . they need atleast a 15 to 20 percent minority to put all the blame of their failure as a nation . so the mostly ruling punjabi political class of pakistan has to pick up either a backward baluchi or a pashtu to parade as a ‘terrorist ‘. all blame for pakistan failures are put on the pashtus and baluchis . all terror attaxcks are blamed on them .the pashtus in turn think that the rich punjabis and sindhis are conspiring against them to keep them down and not allow them to grow and prosper .

  6. tarique says:

they cannot put the blame on pakistani kashmiris or they will flatly refuse in the tirade against india .

Re. the P.S. above (nurseries of bombers):

Mr Brown spoke of his “disgust and horror” at the willingness of the Taleban to use a 13-year-old child to deliver a bomb in a wheelbarrow to a Marine patrol, killing three men and the boy.

    Also (from the same source):

He described Pakistan’s border region with the country, where he met troops fighting the Taleban, as one end of a “chain of terror” that could stretch to Britain if more was not done to tackle the threat of al-Qaeda.
