This Independence Day, dive deep..

..or as they say in Hindi,

This post was inspired by a chance remark last week after one of those long post-dinner political discussions. This Independence Day, how about doing something different?

  • Such as picking up any/all the flags you see lying on the road or in the garbage heap and respectfully disposing them off in a stream, river?
  • Or picking up any one issue to dive deep in and to read as widely as possible on (e.g. Corruption, Inflation, Terrorism or even History?)
  • Or filing an RTI in the next 3 months and/or calling your local representative and asking them for their views on the reason(s) behind inflation? or on China? or on terrorism?

This is how we will be on our way to “Reclaiming India”. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!

Have a thoughtful Independence Day.. and please spare a thought for the ones who gave their lives, and the ones who constantly put it at risk on our borders – day in, day out..Independence Day or not. Here is wishing all of you…

Happy Indpendence Day!

Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!

I will wake up late. Read the book I am reading today. Further my lecture I am preparing currently. Watch a few episodes of The Mentalist and go to sleep. In short, pretend independence never happened 🙂

Thanks Shantanu for this post and the deesha link. Was fortunate to attend Atanu Dey’s event yesterday on Aug 15 which was organized by GITPRO in Sunnyvale. Dey gave a short presentation on the same topic mentioned in his blogpost.

Also wanted to add that thanks for bringing up the RTI thing. Was in my to do list for quite some time and finally your post – jolted me to do it right away. Just filed up two RTI applications using RTI Nation (also discovered on your blog). Below are high level details of my two RTI applications. Hopefully should hear something from RTI Nation as in your original blog about RTI Nation one guy has complaint about RTI Nation.

    1) Filed RTI to get details about any record of Shivkar Bapu’s first unmanned airplane flight in 1895 at Chowpatty, Mumbai

    2) Filed RTI at Haryana’s ASI department regarding how much money has been allocated for Rakhi garhi (Indus site) and how it has been spent so far.
Rakhi garhi was recently mentioned in Global Heritage fund as the one which is losing its value due to rampant looting and insufficient management.
