Pakistani men, white girls & a wee bit of self-censorship, courtesy the BBC

Once upon a time, when I was young and naive – and the world was full of roses, I used to “trust” the BBC for telling us the news the way it was..That was a long time ago. I am not so young anymore (although only four years older than the “Youth Icon”!), certainly not as naive and I now know the world has thorns too. As for BBC, this snippet from a report says it all. This is how the corporation reported a recent controversial comment by Jack Straw (emphasis added):

Last week, following an unrelated case, the former Home Secretary, Jack Straw, caused controversy when he said some Asian men saw white girls as an easy target for sexual abuse

This is what Mr Straw actually said:

..Mr Straw told Sky News: “There is an undeniable problem with a small minority of Pakistani-heritage men targeting vulnerable white girls…Mr Straw said he believed the young men were targeting white girls because Pakistani-heritage girls were “off limits”.

Now you know why I would much rather be called an Indian than an “Asian” in UK.

    In case you still had doubts re. BBC’s “independence”, please read this:
    …It was the day that a host of BBC executives and star presenters admitted what critics have been telling them for years: the BBC is dominated by trendy, Left-leaning liberals who are biased against Christianity and in favour of multiculturalism. [ We are biased, admit the stars of BBC News ]

    Are you suprised Shantanu….? Is this not Media is in most parts of the English Educated world, save the US? it is ditto in India – sitcoms make enough fun of Hindu religions, Hindu “Swami’s” sexual escapades can turn up into jokes and movie plots, boys regularly romance girls in temples, and of course every shrill television presenter worth his / her salt will yell about multi-culturalistic, diverse plural Indian society – by this all they mean is Islamic and Christians should pretty much be allowed to do what they want, but not Hindus! now, why arent there movies about paedophile & homosexual priests??? Why is there NEVER plot that shows romance in a church? Mosque is of course impossible! simply because “education seems to somehow have become synonymous with decrying what the local customs of the land are all about! Surely, what is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander!
    Why does it not happen in America? Because, for all their vaunted positions on democracy etc, it is not a salad bowl of multi-ethnic / multi-religious people, it is a melting pot. i.e are there visible traces of Italian / German / Russuan / Eastern Eurppean / Irish Immigrants even 5 decaded back…? non… 2 generations and you are a part of the great American dream… President Obama, a native citizen is asked to prove his citizenship, partly because of paternity reasons… and it is NOT considered an offence to the minority. can you imagine us asking Sonia tp PROVE that she really cares for this country…? or even prove the that her children’s names are the Hindu ones are really Priyanka / Rahul…? NO! because, then we are questioning the very “secular fabric” of democracy… it is NOT fine to get non-Hindus to prove their secularism, but it is constantly ok to get Hindus to prove that they are secular… can you see this happening in America…? NO! now that explains why on this front, they will always remain the “American state” – because Homeland security concerns and Federal regulations triumph over all fuzzy feel good words!

    Secular does not mean going against the beliefs of anyone… the sooner we learn this, as does Britain, the better, I guess. It creates a better environment for all to live in peace!

    @Shantanu, this is the most watched video on net. It is little obscene but tells us, If PM is of this material than what one can expect…You can remove this video if you feel so.

    @Shantanu,
    BBC is the mother ship of leftists in world media. Big deal!!! Leftys are living on borrowed time, there time has long gone in the world stage. But I have a deep feeling that until they destroy Britain’s system completely, they would not go. Which, after all, may not be a bad thing.

    Another musch used term is South Asian as if Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi are all one homogenious group!!Lot of Indians without any thinking accept this…I would prepfer just Indian. In fact it has become the habit of these other nationals to claim they are Indians while in the US. We should shun such terms like South Asian/Sub Continental etc.

    This is what is there on the web page right now (based on the link in your article):

    Last week, following an unrelated case, the former Home Secretary, Jack Straw, caused controversy when he said some Pakistani men saw white girls as an easy target for sexual abuse.

    Did they change it or is this the wrong link?

  7. Girish says:

    Interesting, BBC has changed the story now to say, “Last week, following an unrelated case, the former Home Secretary, Jack Straw, caused controversy when he said some Pakistani men saw white girls as an easy target for sexual abuse.”

  8. B Shantanu says:

    KP and Girish: Thanks for alerting me to this…
    I went back and checked. I published my post yesterday just before 9am UK time. The BBC appears to have “updated” its report at 1131 UK time. It now reads..”some Pakistani men”.

    Someone in BBC appears to be “listening” – which is good..

    By the way, the internet has a strange habit of recording footprints…

    Here is one of the copies of the original report (on which I had based my post) http://bbc.in/f7GwMU – this is a BBC Radio 5 website.

    This may also be “updated” soon – so I have saved a copy on my hard disk – here it is: https://satyameva-jayate.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/BBC-Radio-5-report-on-Jack-Straw-screenshot.jpg

    Thanks

    The predatory behaviour that has drawn the attention of the law enforcement agencies was at the extreme end. Its pervasive aspect still goes unchallenged and arises from the Islamic religions regard of women as property which can be accumulated as any other property. It is easy to gloat on the misfortune of the English girls. The English girls in this case made headlines but Hindu and Sikh girls who have similarly been abused never receive any mention. Much the same state of affairs exists in India, so if India will not protects its own, why should anyone else in the world care? Sikhs themselves do not have a nation to call their own in majority Hindu India, but they do not take lightly assaults made by Muslims on their women which is in contrast to the non-chalent response of Hindus. The Hindu religion and philosophy perforce has sealed the fate of Hindus in like situations who are usually too ashamed to wield the power of the law and their own convictions.

    @VoP,
    I agree that we should not forget holocaust day. But where is the outrage of Pandits? Year after year I am hearing about this, but those who appear to have lost land are simply not interested.
