My Favourite Five – A plug for “plug-ins”

This post has been long overdue…It is a very small attempt at saying “Thank You” to those whose toil has made my blog a bit more friendlier, nicer and useful.

Those of you who blog and/or are thinking of starting your own blog, pl. do consider these plugins…I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Top of my list: Akismet...which keeps my comments inbox sane and safe…Akismet is one of the best spam comments filter  – ever. It was developed by the smart folks who wrote the WordPress code…If you have a WordPress blog (or are thinking of hosting your own) there is no excuse for not using this plugin…just install it…and relax.

WP Stats: For those once-a-day ego-trips…Part of the Automattic suite of software products, WordPress stats is another must-have plugin. Developed by Andy Skelton, it has been downloaded more than 730,000 times!

WP Database Backup: Just in case it all goes horribly wrong. WP Database Backup quietly and efficiently backs up your precious posts and comments…without forgetting. Even better, it emails you a copy – which can be handy in case disaster strikes.

Easy Uploader: Developed by Chris Jean this plugin makes uploading images, themes and plugins a breeze, completely bypassing the FTP client. Simply brilliant.

Subscribe to Comments: This is one of my latest plugins and allows readers (You) to follow new comments on a post. It comes in particularly handy when a discussion begins to expand…and helps keep the conversation alive. Easily one of my favourites.
