Home Minister Shivaraj Patil is still awaiting two things:

Even British Prime Minister Gordon Brown declared on the same day that the ‘outrageous’ attacks in Mumbai will be met with a ‘vigorous response’.

The Manmohan Singh-led Congress government is an utter and complete failure.

Not surprisingly, the Islamosecular Congress-SIMI coalition will be crushed in the elections.

What can I say. Manmohan Singh should stop being a chamcha of the Gandhi family and be a man? I think we have had so many incidents now that if any of these Congress guys had any shame they should stay away from even contesting in the next elections. How can they have a face to ask people to vote for them after all this mess they’ve made. And the few sincere police guys we have left are killed in these incidents. Where are we going?

Why should I be angry and upset? I calmly suggest we practise Gandhi-giri and form a human-chain to stop the police from surrounding the Hotel Trident. The Jihadis must be given biryani and treated royally since they are innocent (like the Jamia Nagar boys) and more importantly, since they are “our brethren” too.

Otherwise, I will go to the Hotel Trident and go on a fast-unto-death. If that does not work, I will offer myself in exchange of the 40 hostages being held inside. I am sure that my “secular” gesture will melt the hearts of the Jihadis. *sarcasm*

What we need most at this stage is the courage to call a spade a spade. That’s when you can get to the root of the Jihadi menace.

Otherwise, we are just fooling ourselves into extinction.

Please let us not abuse the ATS. They are a body of some of the brightest and most fearless policemen in Maharashtra. Just because they arrested someone who you think should not have been is no reason to accuse them of malafide reasons. They have come up with a fair bit of evidence on the malegaon blasts case, if you were only to look at it with an open mind.

I will not hear of any abuse against the brave policemen of Mumbai, who led from the front against this barbaric attack. 14 policemen died in the effort, including three top policemen, Hemant Karkare, ACP Kamte and Vijay Salaskar. This is the single largest casualty that the Mumbai police have suffered, to the best of my knowledge

Current reports say that the terrorists landed in boats at Mazagaon Dock, which is mainy used as a fishing port.

This is a terrible atrocity and the perpetrators and their supporters must be relentlessly hunted down. Unfortunately, the Indian state is very rickety and inefficient. The Indian state must increase its ability to defend itself against terrorism, otherwise India’s great opportunity to rise to greatness will be lost and instead we will get chaos and civil war.

Have been in Bombay since yesterday evening. All personnel (in office and their near ones) accounted for. What a world we are putting together for the next generation!
I wonder if the fact that this strike has hit the zones which pink papers care about – will that make a difference?
My take is that there’s just too much fascination with speculation, finger pointing and chasing chimeral solutions – which means that the real problems in intelligence, response and investigation never get addressed. Or those with the basic problem of criminals as legislators.

No, Indian. I have no complaints regarding the investigations aspect….even if journos get an opportunity to interview terrorists that’s fine but the judgement call is to be made in the favour of public interest. I do not know if this file has been shared with the Intelligence Experts and I do not know how the decision to make this tape public has been made- surely this can inflame passions and worsen the situation. Dear all,

I have personally taken an oath to work towards crushing the chances of the Islamosecular Congress-SIMI Coalition of winning the April 2009 Parliamentary Election.

To achieve this, I am talking to as many people as possible as I can meet every day i.e. family, relatives, friends, colleagues, classmates, even random strangers on the train/bus, shopkeepers, household help, bhaji-wallah, milkman, taxi-driver, auto-rickshaw driver etc.

As I talk to them, I get a feel for their anger against the Firangi-led Congress. I am also simultaneously convincing them to vote for the BJP this time around.

I am going to do this every day – until the April 2009 Parliamentary Election.

Reena-Crush the congress campaign is good and I sincerely hope the BJP comes back in power and does a better job than last time.

However as I follow the current political events I sense the tide changing. BJP has been in the last few years asking votes on terror and the current events certainly lend them an edge. There is a visible anger in the masses against politicians especially the central government for they have failed and failed again. Congress certainly realises that if they do not take any action this time (besides rolling a few heads) they will be fighting a lost battle come the general elections. The rhetoric is getting stronger for some definitive action against pakistan and if that were to happen there could be a big swing back in their favour. Perhaps my analogy is simplistic but I feel one of the reasons congress seems (at least the body language of pranab and to a lesser extent the PM) to be keen to do something around this time is not just to pacify the public but to address the bigger problem of their political future. Buddy, Guns are just tools. Do not blame the tools for crimes committed by the users of those. Most of the crimes worldwide are perpetrated using illegal arms. While strict gun control disarms majority citizens, it has no effect on the persons who wish to kill/terrorize using illegal guns. The govt is aiding terrorists indirectly by not allowing citizens to protect themselves with strict gun control, and not stopping terrorists from using their illegal but highly effective arms. Israel allows its citizens to carry concealed weapons which helped in minimizing loss of life in many Mumbai like incidents, take for example recent shootout in Jerusalem where an armed civilian was able to neutralize terrorist, who was on killing spree in a public library.
