Om Namah Shivaya – UPDATED

Happy “Maha Shiv Ratri” to all of you.

As many of you no doubt know, Bhagwaan MahaDev has a special status in our Dharma and there are numerous sacred stories associated with this night…

For those amongst you who are curious to know more about this festival, here are a few links (in no particular order):

On a related note, one of my dreams is to visit all the twelve “Jyotirlinga”(s) associated with Lord Shiva and then write a travelogue around that (I have been to six but half still remain)…Someday I hope will manage to do that.

Mini-Quiz for the day (or “Night of the Great Lord Shiva”):

    Dear Sir,
What a festival!!! and for whom? The most auspicious!!
Shiva the destroyer of evil- Evil, what types are they? Are they Rakshas or the demons or that which exist in our own minds.
Shiva, the ultimate, dancing the ‘Dance of Immortality, in the Realm of Mortality’
The body once it is born will definetely decay and cease to be there one day. One ages according to the body physically but the mind, by whiuch the body survives does not age it is immortal one day.
Human beings die one day but the universe lives on, it is immortal.
Shiva continues his dance on the level of immortality, and we percieve him from the level of Mortality.
What a way of life!! So beautiful, so wonderfully described that one is Immortal but the body dies. We are on with the purusharta. Can any othe way of life describe Immortality in the realm of mortality more beautifully.
My salutations to the most auspicious, as I know he lives within me, as “I” (am) Immortal.
    Regards,
    vck
