Let us blow up Khajuraho…
By now most, if not all, of you must have read about the shameful and disgusting incidents of molestations of young women in Mumbai and New Delhi on New Year’s Eve…
What shocked me even more was this ridiculous (I wish I had a stronger word…) statement from one of the accused*:
…Addressing the media, the accused…said that while the newspapers splashed ‘molestation’ pictures, they did not write a word about how the girls in question were drunk.
“The couples were in an inebriated state. They were smooching on the road. What were they expecting?”, they said.
Extraordinary…Get out your pickaxes and shovels…Let us smash the Khajuraho temples 🙁
I am reminded of Mahatma Gandhi’s words to the effect that India shallbe independentthe day when a woman can walk the street atmidnight without fear of being harassed…(does anyone have a source, exact quote? – thanks). When will we have this kind of “Ram-rajya”?

A mob of 70? This seems to imply societal degradation and a loss of fundamental human values. It is embarassing. I doubt they will visit India again.
What mob did is wrong in any moral society. At the same time, our elite citizens and NRIs also need to have some public ethics, curtesy and moral values.
Why quote only one sentence of Gandhi. He wanted women to roam without fear, but his definition of women was definitely not this. The women he told was those who are truly Indian in culture, not such type of drunk and half naked women from so called upper society.
Again, what mob did is definitely wrong and to be condemed. Well, who is right in this society these days. After all we are all english educated and we all spend time is only around money, fame and women. This is Kali yug.
I cannot believe the change in the attitudes of the present day Indian society. It seems that the more educated, prosperous and travelled they are, they have adopted the worst values from the foreign cultures. They have actually forgotten the concept of what is right and what is wrong, what is moral and what is amoral, what is human and what is inhuman. I gave up watching the stupid Indian serials on Star, Zee, Sony etc. I could not reconcile the incessant chanting of Hindu religious mantras whilst the actors are committing horrible acts of victimization, kidnapping, rape, murder and other inhuman violence. Yet daily millions of Indians are glued to these demoralising shows on TV. What is happening out in the streets is the effect of these vulgar media. This happens on TV, then why not in real life. The equally corrupt and ineffective police and governance adds to the freedom to committ these vile acts. The perpetrators have no fear of being brought to account for their nasty acts
Dear Sir,
We blame society for everything that happens under the sun. WHO MAKES THE SOCIETY? WE!! WE!! WE!!
If there is anything wrong that is happening I think the buck stops with us. Let us not blame anybodyelse for the same.
As Minoo has rightly pointed out, not watching the serials on the small screen will go a long way in forming different opinions for ourselves.
If we were to entertain our children with a different value system then we can build in a society which can have different value systems than what that exists now.
Today, we are called fundamentalist if one is to promote the teaching of moral values that was existing for milleniums. Children are supposed to be permitted to do anything in the guise of freedom.
We have cases were teachers are beaten up, molested, and even false cases filed against them just to get more TRP’s.
Just imagine a teacher was iiltreated, molested by a media and what happened—-NOTHING!!!
As long the fault was supposed to lie with the teacher the “MEDIA” mainly the “ENGLISH ONES” were tripping over each other to promote the news, but once it was ascertained that it was fabricated and it was one of their ILK that had did it, the story was “KILLED”.
That is ther kind of morality practised by the so called “EDUCATED, ENGLISH SPEAKING, CULTURED BRIGADE”.
In the case of BILKIS they are going GUNG HO on the news!!! DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!.
If the so called “EDUCATED, ENGLISH SPEAKING, CULTURED BRIGADE” can behave so irresponsibly which sadly reflects their levels of morality what does one expect from the society which sits glued to their offering day in and day out?
Let us follow Minoo in a small way by being with our children and educating them on “TRUE VALUE SYSTEMS”, even if it means being ridiculed by the “EDUCATED, ENGLISH SPEAKING, CULTURED BRIGADE”.
A breakthrough can be made and we can avoid such shameless acts by our future generations.

Woman cop faces net attack for crackdown on eve-teasing
I am shocked by the first sentence: “Some may call it poetic justice”
Dear Sir,
I do not know how to start an Orkut site to protect the interests of Ms. Sita Rani.
The Biased English Media will not support it; Our bisaed Chritian School Educated English Brigade will not help; Our friends like Shabana, Teesta,NCW Chairman, Javed, Arundathi Roy, etc. will not help us.
Can we help her.

This has to be dealt socially by discussion.
Jai Bharat!
@ Sandeep: Certain things are done with “stick” than discussions because they are top down. Do you think “Sati Pratha” would have got eliminated from India had it not been for the strict measures by the Britishers with all supprot from few renowned Social activists like Rajaram Mohan Roy. Nanda dynasty would have stayed had it not for the upright fight by Chanakya. Country needs that. I am an optimist & like discussing things too but I can be like that only until I am not attacked. It depends to what extent people can resist or absorb such menace. I feel pity for that father – in one of your comments – that he is selling his land & moving off because he cares for his & his kins life. alternatively he could have sent his kins, bought a gun with some money, shot those idiots & better remained in Jail for his life time. If you still think that doesn’t work, See hindi movie “Gangajal” & believe me, that is not a fictional story.
