Jo,
India is not “a Hindu religious symbol”…and neither is the painting that of “India”.
Shri Husain has depicted “Bharat Mata” – a symbolic representation of our country which several people feel respect for…Where does Hinduism come in this?
I am offended by it exactly because it appears to insult the concept of nationhood and “Indian-ness”.
Do you agree?
P.S. Could you please elaborate what you mean by “Hindutva” – I suspect you are mis-interpreting the essence of Hinduism which is tolerance and respect for others.
P.P.S. “Vande Mataram” is really a song in praise of the “matrubhoomi” (motherland) – and not in worship of a particular God or Goddess. See this link for more

Few minutes before I was at the blog of JO.
It made me thinking of the lot out there who likes India but not the idea that it orignally and anciently belongs to Hindus. They want to bypass the contribution of Hinduism in yester -years which has made them today enjoying the fruits of Indianness. Most of the time I have seen that this kind of lot who speaks this kind of langauage are converted lot. Once they get converted they became so much jealous of Hindus and Hinduism just by feeling that they are not the part of this great religion they starts maligning the Hindus and the Hinduism against their Indianness. When whole world is praising Hinduism and its civilisation this so called fake secular people wants to spoil the show. They can takeup terror caused by other country in India and local converted people comfortably. But no action by Hindus is their expectation. They dont like when Hindus speaks about protecting Hinduism. It is threat for them. They think Indianness can only be bring if Hindus are stopped from doing everything that shows the importance of Hinduism.
Their efforts are futile and can never conquer such Idianness without Hinduism.
Sorry Indianness. I mean feel of Indianness can never happen without Hinduism.
