Pseudo-philosophy, Terrorists and Martyrs

After my previous post on this brave soul, I thought that I had nothing more to say about Major Manish Pitambare until I read this post on another blog.

.

It makes a few outrageous points which I felt needed a response:

Excerpts from the post and my comments:

A Military Officer has given his life to make sure that India isnt harmed by a militant, and we call him a hero. Please note that the militants group will also call their fellow militant a hero. It is just that we believe in different philosophies. Unfortunately, all our philosophies are based on our conditioning.

In an attempt at being sublime, this falls into being ridiculous. You cannot call a terrorist a herono matter what your conditioning has been.

Fact is both are doing their jobs. The jobs have been given to them by different OFFICERs and POLITICIANS who have been elected (by people like us). Or some such politicians force others to elect them (because people like us are not strong enough).

Really? Which politician gave the terrorists their jobs of killing innocent people? This is beyond belief

The news people do their job. If you dont like it, you switch off the channels

Switching off the channels is NOT theanswer. In my dictionary, this is called apathy and indifference. As I have written before, this indifference and apathy are our worst enemies

Seeing negatives in one is fine, but finding faults without actually understanding things, just because you happen to know history is wrong.

Friend, I am really lost here (and in the next few lines as well)what are you trying to say? PLEASE stop philosophising about this tragedy and dont be afraid of voicing your opinion…

  1. Philosophising concepts to get away from the facts is an old Indian trait, it is not helpful; on the contrary it can prove fatal : it is like a pigeon hoping to save his life by just closing its eyes towards a cat about to tear it apart.
