Continued ignorance about Hinduism…

Meanwhile, ignorance about the basics of Hinduism keeps cropping up in unexpected places…even as a major BBC series (“In Search of God) mysteriously ignores Hinduism (practiced by more than 800m people; ~15% of the world’s population)… of course since most of them are in India, they don’t count (or it doesn’t matter)*.

A review in the Daily Telegraph (of UK Pg 25, 14th Nov ’06, “Encounters with the Divine”, Richard Dorment) of the Royal Academy’s show of “ancient Hindu bronzes” (Chola sculptures, 9th – 13th century – which should properly be called medieval – but that’s another story again) has this gem in the second para:

“Hinduism comprises three separate but interrelated cults, each focusing on the worship of a different diety – Shiva, Devi and Vishnu.” (sic).

Amazing…what happened to the basic tenets of journalism about verifying your facts?

.

* I am curious about the % make up in numbers of Christians, Muslims and Jews in Britain – this may have had an impact on the BBC’s decision.

BBC always have had this neglected status for India and Hinduism. If you look at the India maps BBC displays in the site as well as the TV channel, you can see that Indian map has no head! They have already given it to pak!

  2. Very true. Media is very ignorant of Hinduism. IGNORANCE IS BLISS. That is the attitude of the media. What a shame!

To start with, they explain Hinduism as a religion. Hinduism is NOT a religion like Islam or Christianity but a CULTURE with many religions in it. It is about time, people and media take note of that.

I for one do not want Sanatan Dharma (SD) to be formally incuded as a “religion”, with all the connotations that word carries. The idea that SD is the reality, and everything else is just “club-mentality” will come out slowly. But it wont come out if we jostle to get represented in these fake “all faith” conferences that these “join me or I’ll kill you” types organize from time to time.

The various whiteboy media outlets classifying SD as this or that does not carry the same weight today as it did 50, even 10 years ago.

We need to educate *our* masses about SD, and concentrate fully on this. There are enough SD-friendly white people today.

Of course, this does not mean not defendinf SD against major misrepresentations like the California Textbooks thing (Google CAPEEM).

We have to keep pushing along the truth through websites, highlight the truth about the accusers’ own religions (Xtian: see Caesar’s Messiah, and Muslim: see FaithFreedom). The hindu is conditioned to *not* talk at all about Abrahamic religions (esp Xtianity, Islam). This is not some high-minded nobility of spirit, as we have been taught by the uber-dhimmified psecs; this is just plain ol’ cowardice. Do it.

Believe me, the West is very very scared of a Hindu resurgence. It could sweep their “civlization” (the kill-rape-subvert-tax edifice that they call civilization) into the dustbin very quickly.
