India – the (still) forgotten terror victim…

At a recent panel discussion under the aegis of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee in Washington, Ambassador Ronen Sen is quoted as having said: “we have been the world’s biggest victims of terrorism”…

Unfortunately he did not quote any figures but I had commented on it almost two years ago, see “India – The Forgotten Terror Victim“.

Do any readers have up-to-date figures on victims of terrorist attacks in India?

Dhanyawaad.

Atleast five blasts rocked three cities of Uttar Pradesh on Friday afternoon, killing 12 people. The near simultaneous blasts occurred at courts in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi.

The Home Ministry has come out with this gem:

”One thing is clear that this is a conspiracy. Not sure which organization. (The) motive is to disturb communal harmony. I appeal to people to remain united. Uttar Pradesh is so large, lapses can happen.”

Refer to the following link: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20070033741&ch=11/23/2007%202:46:00%20PM

In other words, the citizens are reminded that they are on their own. Do not expect anything from Government. We do not want to be seen as acting against our vote bank. However, we will come out with a statement implicating Pakistan in the conspiracy. Since we are true followers of Ahimsa, we will inform Paksitan and Jihadi organizations that terrorism is not acceptable to us.

By the way, there must be a discussion in the Parliament to increase the security arrangements for all leaders irrespective of political affiliations. It is the duty of every patriotic Indian to contribute their hard earned money to ensure protection of our leaders and their kin.

Is it not amazing? NDTV removed the following statement from its report when I went back to the site again:

”One thing is clear that this is a conspiracy. Not sure which organization. (The) motive is to disturb communal harmony. I appeal to people to remain united. Uttar Pradesh is so large, lapses can happen.”

    Who is NDTV afraid of?

Nandan: The sentence is (sort of) back again…Your comment worked…! (although “lapses can happen” still appears to be missing)
