Thank you Uma and Chakram..and Shubh Makar Sankranti to you both as well.
To readers of this blog: Today is the 250th anniversary of the third battle of Panipat. About 100,000 Hindus (Marathas) perished in Panipat defending their motherland from Afghans. The losses on the Afghan side were also massive, at 60,000, and the afghans could no longer entertain any dreams of holding land in Punjab as a result of this mutual destruction. Let us have a moment’s silence in memory of our fallen Hindu heroes.
Many many happy and healthy returns of the day to Nandini. Shantanu and Nandini – you are a fantastic couple and a family. Shubh Makar Sankranti to you all.

We are in Bharat (GUJARAT) and saw myriads of colourful kites flying in the blue skies and later in the evening also witnesed floating ‘tukkals’ in the night sky – flame-lit lanterns skilfully strung on thread one after another, adding more light to the already starry and moonlit sky.
