It does not stop at a whistle…
Sh Mulayam Singh Yadav, Samajwadi Party, quoted below in DNA):
I don’t like to say this, but they* would be the women at whom youths would whistle…
*women belonging to families of industrialists and bureaucrats who might benefit from the WRB.
The problem Mulayam Singh-ji is, it does not stop at a whistle.
It sometimes ends up like this: “We saw the girl and the boy…and we forced ourselves inâ€
Sad, but true.
Can you do something about that please?
A good start might be to ask all your followers and party-workers to not treat women as commodities…or as something to whistle at.

A sad day for India and Who Will Listen to Para’s Silent Screams?
That is shameful indeed!!! I am not going to say that other parts of India are like heaven to women, but Delhi-Noida area is a class in itself if you are trying to take a survey of male attitude towards female. Exactly when are we going to get ourselves rid of these mentality?
This is a serious problem in many parts of India. It’s such a disappointment since Hinduism and Indian culture in general is so heavy with emphasis on how women should be respected. ALL WOMEN. No matter what they’re wearing and what colour their skin is.
I myself have experienced men in India leering at me and whistling and saying offensive things and worse – trying to touch me. It’s sickening. I’ve never been treated like that in the west.
As awful as being whistled and leered at is for Indian girls I know how difficult life is for white girls who visit India. The men won’t leave them alone and assume, because they are white, that they can be molested and abused. It’s a disgrace to India’s culture that this is happening.
Something must be done.

Sid & Jai: You are both right…At the heart of this “mentality” is an attitude that refuses to treat and consider women at the same level as men. The key – I believe – lies in femaly literacy and helping women become self-sufficient. A relentless focus on the girl child (keep her healthy and educate her, equip her with sklls) is critical.
@ Jai: Yes, I know what you are talking about…It is truly a disgrace to our traditions and heritage…
Even after knowing the situtaion for women,Mulayam Singh is still not going to make an effort to do something about the situation so women can walk on the roads at any hour without the fear of being harrassed. & for people who fall in category of Mulayam Singh it is so easy to point a finger and categorise classes of women. Why can’t they just accept that the problem is not with women but with the men who just can’t stop treating women like a public property…. Instead of categorising and de-grading women I think the leaders should put their brains to work for the betterment of the women and country….
Sick & pervert mind can think on such imaginations forgating their mother was a woman
Shame on us . We alone are responsible for all what is being said by Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav . We elected him H’ble Member of Parliament . MLA , MLC , CM , Defence Minister and what not . His statements show the degree of respect n honour he has for his mother , wife , sister and daughter .
If this is his mentality, he should have thought twice before nominating his daughter in law in the recent lok sabha bye poll agains Raj Babbar
From IBN Live:
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani broke down…after learning that Congress MLAs had allegedly taunted a BJP woman MLA.
Congress MLAs, who are boycotting the Assembly and holding their own parallel session, allegedly told the woman MLA she was late because she must have been busy at a beauty parlour.

Let us get back to “celebrating” the Women’s Reservation Bill.
