Oh, today also happens to be the 70th anniversary of the infamous Lahore Declaration that put paid to any hopes of a united independent India. 16 years after that resolution, Pakistan declared itself the world’s first Islamic Republic. Some of you may know that Lahore traces its name to Bhagwaan Shri RamChandra whose birth anniversary falls tomorrow (Shri Ram Navami).

I saw Sikhs distributing free Sherbet and Food to all on this great day, in memory of the three great sons of our holy motherland. I was moved by the sincerity. Hats off to selfless sacrifice of great Sikhs whose valor has kept us alive.

  4. Dr Ranjeet Singh says:

We, at least had not forgotten, born as we were in Lahore, in the same month March and belonging to his district of Ferozepur also, which is the district both of his birth and execution and supreme sacrifice.

But we are writing this note to clarify that the name Lahore was not after the name of Bhagawan Shri Ramchandra, but it was after that of his son Luv. It was built by him, and the other which is also near it, kusoor, was built by Kush. So Lahore carries the name of Luv and Kusoor that of Kush.

Guru Gobind Singhji and Guru Nanak Devji were the descendents of these two. Guru Gobind Singh jee has described this in his Atma Kathaa: Vichitra Naatak. We give the relevant verses for your information. (By the by, we may also add that Kasab, the buture of Mumbai, hails from Kusoor.)

  10. Yes, It has been 79 years! when a bunch of youth shook the British Empire! Also inspires now.
Salute to all Shahids who fought for our independence. It is because of you we breath air with freedom!!
    Vande Mataram

Shaheed Udham Singh is missing in Satyameva Jayate… His deed is one of the greatest sacrifice and unsurpassed saga of valor against British Christians

  12. Sid says:

    @Rohit,
Rajguru (Shivaram Rajguru) is a Marathi, not Sikh.
They were Indians, not Sikh or Marathi only. They did not go to save Sikhs only, they stood for this land. British government killed them, but could not insult them. We, the current generation, not only insulted their contribution by tolerating Congress-i statement of calling them terrorists and promoting sectarianism in their name but also made us unworthy of calling their successors. Who are the “free” citizens of this “free” country who meekly tolerate political con-men calling their respectable freedom fighters as terrorists?

In contrast, one sikh today is happily distributing parts of india to enemies of the state.
How far and how fast we have fallen.

Like one other blogger said. We once were warriors. Once were.
    No more.

  15. Rohit says:

    Sid,

I know Rajguru was Marathi… Sukhdev Thapar was Hindu… etc… I was touched by gesture of Sikhs who were distributing Free Sherbet and Food in honor of these three martyrs… And valor of Sikhs have kept us alive is a fact…

  16. Rohit says:

    Dear AG,

Everything has a effect. Punjabis had vehemently opposed partition. Politics of British Christians, MK Gandhi, JL Nehru and MA Jinnah ensured that for benefit of political power hunger of Gandhi, Nehru, Punjabis get genocided, raped, pillaged, looted and are forced to live in slums. Nothing was lost for Gandhi or Nehru or the cronies of Congress. One cannot take everything for granted. Those who take things for granted are cursed to fall. We take things for granted and if we continue to do so, we shall fall.

  17. Sid says:

    Rohit,

I admit that gesture was most welcome. In fact, other two simply should not have born Hindu because their own community does not care. This is the exact reason, we are becoming more cowardly day by day.
Here is one thing though: “And valor of Sikhs have kept us alive is a fact” – How would you justify it? India is simply too big to be upheld by a single community. Sikh community has their contribution towards both stability and instability of this big country.

  18. Sid says:

    Rohit,
“Punjabis get genocided, raped, pillaged, looted and are forced to live in slums. Nothing was lost for Gandhi or Nehru or the cronies of Congress.” – Yes, I can not agree more. The two states – Bengal and Panjab – suffered more than the others. But, then what happened to Kashmir? Why could it not be divided? Because Mr. Nehru loved it? Must be so.Last sixty years are a grand long of history of self-alienation and secular colonisation.
    A frustrated monologue
I just read a long editorial on one prominent Bengali newspaper where the writer (a rising member of left stupidity) has wasted one good paragraph in describing how he found peaceful smile in Osama Bin Laden’s photo. This is something even Arundhati Roy did not think of touching. Why exactly do my community keep producing such intelligence-less intellectuals dime a dozen escapes me. Something must have gone wrong. Horribly!!!
    Monologue ends

  19. Rohit says:

Sid… It is a matter of reading history, contribution and recognizing… One can debate on anything and everything to non stop end. Thanks

Bhagat Singh died for nationalism, not communism
    Tuesday, March 23, 2010,12:27 [IST]
    By Dipin Damodharan
    http://news.oneindia.in/cj/dipin-d/2010/bhagat-singh-died-for-nationalism-not-communism.html

On this day (Mar 23) entire Bharat is commemorating the heroic sacrifice made by three young patriots on 23 Mar, 1931. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru gladly kissed the gallows on this day by singing the song that praises their motherland Bharat.

To my knowledge he sacrificed his precious life for a noble cause, for the liberation of Bharat from the invaders, for nationalism. Undoubtedly Bhagat’s legacy belongs to every Bharati.

But for the communists (experts in transforming sheep to dog), he died for communism and not for nationalism. They are incessantly advocating Bhagat as their poster boy, for several years they have been using Goebalsian tricks to claim Bhagat’s legacy.

They are injecting fake stories about Bhagat into the blood of youth who are ignorant about Bharat’s history. Discarding the historical facts, the communists become angry with the Sangh inspired organizations for propagating Bhagat’s ideals.

The communists’ ideologues conveniently ignoring the truth that the roots of Bhagat Singh’s ideology lie in the very concept of Hindu Rashtra. To figure out the ideology of this extraordinary patriot we have to go through some crucial stages of the 23 year long Bhagat’s life.

Bhagat was born into a family of patriots, who were the staunch followers of Arya Samaj. His grandfather Arjun was an activist of Arya Samaj, father Kishan Singh and Uncle Ajith Singh were members of Ghadar party, founded in US intended to hurl out the British rule in Bharat.

The habitual argument of Marxists is that Bhagat was an atheist; he was not a believer of idol worship, so he has nothing to do with Hindutva.

I remind the pseudo historians that during the younger days Bhagat was guided by the philosophy of Arya Samaj founded by Swami Dayanand Sarawati. Arya Samaj is a patriotic organization formed to fight against social inequality and to inculcate patriotism in youth. The Samaj are against idol worship, they believe only in the supremacy of Vedas.

Obviously Bhagat happened to be a follower of this view and turned out to be a fierce nationalist.

Also, Bhagat studied in Dayanand Anglo Vedic School and later in the National College of Lahore (founded by hard nationalists Lala Lajpat Rai and Bhai Parmanand).

The second stage was Bhagat’s association with revolutionary patriots and nationalist organizations. In many instances Bhagat openly expressed that he was inspired by the sagas of two great patriots Chatrapati Shivaji and Maharana Pratap.

In Bharat, the Communist Party was officially formed in 1925 but till his death Bhagat was never a member of this party. Bhagat encultured the primary lessons of politics from Scheendranath Sanyal, the founder of HRA (Hindustan Republican Association) and not from any communist.

The purpose of HRA was to create a Federative Republic of Indian States rooted in the ideology of Sanathan Dharma.

Later the organization was renamed as HSRA (Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) under the leadership of Bhagat Singh and Azad to unify the revolutionary movements all over the country.

Bhagat’s close associates, Rama Prasad Bismil (an Arya Samajist and pracharak of Hindu Rashtra), Chandra Shekar Azad, Mohammed Ashfaqullah Khan were all followers of Sanathan dharma.

The third stage was his association with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Bhagat’s concept was firmly rooted in the ancient culture and tradition of Bharat. Bhagat came to know about the activities of Sangh through Shivram Rajguru, an active Swayamsevak (Maharashtra) and his comrade in HSRA.

He is very anxious to know about Dr Hedgewar (Doctorji) and the functioning of Sangh. Once, he shared his great respect towards Doctorji with Rajguru.

After the assassination of Saunders in 1928 (by Bhagat and Rajguru), Bhagat advised Rajguru to seek help from Doctorji for a shelter and he sent Raj to Nagpur, where the RSS head office located.

Thus his vision is parallel to that of the Akhant Bharat Sankalp of RSS. But unfortunately Bhagat’s ideals are misinterpreted by the Communists to achieve their vested interests.

So my dear young comrades, that sacrifice is for nationalism; not for the alien ideology of communism. Let us pay our tribute to the great son of Bharatmaa.

Yes, If you asked from your own heart then reply will come that we have forgotten these three martyrs due to our politician. Can be forgot Rajiv gandhi,no due to highly political drama every year? what he has contributed only accepting corruption? today, what congress is doing to remove corrruption? So why congress will remember these three? On the name of these three martyrs, vote may not be collected. Thanks to few people who remind us these names. I have read about thease three martyrs in my primary school about 40 years back but today our childern may not be known these names. Mr. Kapil sibbal should include these martyrs name in school curriculum.

  26. Pawan Arora says:

These are the good freedom fighter of our country but our country have bad luck that nobody is thankful to them. Our Govt. should also take steps to make them popular and 23rd March should be gazetted holiday.

  27. Indian says:

By now we must know that for Govt like UPA martyrs that exist are only from Nehru- Indira Gandhi family. And they also have expertise in making martyrs out of puppets.

  28. Dinar says:

I salute people like raj guru, bhagat singh and chandrashekhar azad coz of whom we worked our way towards freedom.Freedom cant be won by fasting (satyagraha). If it wud have not been the world war two in which the british were weakened, we wud have been fasting till now under the british rule.

The young generation should do something for the real people, some of them whom we dont even know, who laid their lives to set us free.

The real hero’s are the people mentioned above and our soldiers at the border who protect us not the ones whom we see on our currency notes.

    DISGRACEFUL

From a tweet by Sh Mrityunjoy K Jha:

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev have been referred (to) as terrorist(s) in ICSE 6th std in social science (text)book pg No. 64 n 65.#shame

  32. KSV SUBRAMANIAN says:

@Shantanu: This shows the sick mentality of the people who are leading our country now. For them the martyrs are terrorists and the terrorists are martyrs.

This not only shameful but an affront to the sensibilities of patriotic Indians.

    Cry my beloved motherland, cry.

  33. Rohit says:

There are many yojnaas in the name of traitor Gandhi families, but none in the name of Sri Bhagat Singhji, Sri Rajguruji or Sri Sukhdevji. Shame on the selfish traitor Gandhis. Hats of to the great Martyrs…

  34. K P Ganesh says:

Just as I said in one of my earlier comments that brave-hearts like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev along with every other patriotic Hindustani’s who fought “fire with fire” have been termed Extremists in our educational text books. Talk of the defeatist mentality being spread by the left governed NCERT, a deliberate ploy to not just destroy Hindu’s but make the entire nation a slave of the Western world. Typical Left mentality that began thanks to Nehru’s socialistic and secular views that only got worse when Indira Gandhi introduced Emergency in 1975 for retaining power. And writers like Kuldeep Nayar spread the message of Bhagat Singh, not as a patriot but as an “ATHEIST”. For proof read the book titled “Without Fear. The Life and trial of Bhagat Singh”. Sick people Indian leftists are!!!
