He is simply hypocrite.
Jai Hind!
One can expect nothing better than these stupid words from a bigot who could never complete studies, never work in his life to earn a single piece of bread by hard work.
Some people view him as mentally retarded person
http://karsewak.blogspot.com/2006/12/rahul-gandhi-is-mentally-slow-retarded.html
His quotes will make you laugh the entire day.
It is the media which projecting him as ‘Yuvraj’ or ‘Garibo ka taranhar’
But I’m really worried about the so called media and not about Rahul. Media has a job to do by providing the facts by considering the work of person than his creed or caste.
But everyone has forgotten the basics of their job and thats why we, ‘BHARATIYA’, are in such a worst state.
Politicians forgot that they are policy makers and ended up being money makers, builders, retailers.
Media forgot the job of producing the truth to the attention of public and ended up being “khilouna of political” parties and politicians
Common public forgot/skipped the right to vote and brought the bad and corrupt to the power.
Devil has prevailed upon us because of Neharuites and Gandhi’s. We are also responsible for letting them decide our fate without keeping the check on their work.
so everyone here is to blame and not just one part.
But soon Bharati will rise out of this rubble and show the world their natural strength and potential. Soon we will be leading the world from front.
Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!
I’m not a Rahul Gandhi supporter or fan, but I’d like to make an observation here. I think the series “Quote of the Week” focuses the essence of the quote and not on the person who made the quote. Imagine Shantanu had quoted this line without context and attributed to any XYZ, would the comments still have been so vitriolic?
Well Salil,
You know what is caste based politics and who indulges in it? BTW I perfectly understand your discomfort which is not there.
There were other quotes in the interview… If they had been reproduced, the day would have been hilarious.
On subsidy to corporates
“You seem be the follower of the Left ideology,” Rahul responded. “The United Progressive Alliance government aims at distribution of growth, but the Left only talks of distribution. They have no way to grow.”
Please tell me who chose you as a leader
ROUL: Questioner had not seen his capability. “I have three options: to sit quietly, to propagate the system or to question the system. I have chosen the last one.”
At one stage, he said JNU students were considered intelligent, but wondered why no one asked him a question relating to long-term benefits for the country.
When asked about the Right to Education Bill
Roul admitted that he had no knowledge about it and would look into the matter. (where is the matter?)
The quote quoted by Shantanu was followed by
If one politician goes to a Dalit’s house, you ask why do you go to a Dalit’s house. When thousands of leaders do not visit Dalit houses, you do not ask them why do they not go.
And by I go to a poor man’s house. It is the media which says it is a Dalit or an Adivasi’s house.
At the end of day one cannot make out what is he talking about… Dalit, Adivasi or poor, for we know poverty exists in Jama Masjid area too, very close to CP/ 10 jhatpat.
The BEST PART is RESERVED FOR END. If someone can make head or tail out of idea of answer, I would be greatful.
To queries about hierarchal system in politics, including his lineage, the young Congress leader said, “The hierarchal system exists. It is a reality. But what is the option before me? I can either propagate the system or change it. I am not the one to propagate it so I am trying to change it. You do not like the system; even I do not like it. We have to work together to change it,” he said.
I wish he gets grilled by someone like Richard Greener who unfortunately passed away.
One more from roul
“India cannot be compared to Pakistan in the world affairs…India has a larger role and status internationally…Pakistan shall occupy a small piece of our diplomatic policy”
and another..
“I do not wish to talk even for five minutes about Pakistan”
http://www.indianexpress.com/news/india-has-a-larger-status-internationally-than-pak-rahul/528592/
@Rohit (#8)
I actually agree with him on this quote! How can India be compared with a second-rate failed state like Pakistan?
@ Rohit –
“India cannot be compared to Pakistan in the world affairs”
And, what is wrong about this specific quote? We have been trying to de-hyphenate our relations with Pakistan for a long time, and now that we have succeeded to our greater good …. and you want us to keep focusing on a failed state?
If it was not our neighbour, we would not even devote 2 mins to it – so, if you have 24 hours of diplomacy, let us devote maybe, 30 mins to Pakistan and move on – we have bigger fish to fry.
Also, such a course would be very irritating to our neighbour, which would be another reason to do it, I guess!
And, I have noticed this vitriol about Rahul Gandhi – it seems like there is a section in the blogerati that *must* criticise the Gandhi family, irrespective of rights or wrongs.
I do find Rahul Gandhi a most interesting character – he seems to speak from the heart, which is something that Indians (being the emotional creatures that they are) respond to very warmly.
I also see streaks of his father, Rajiv Gandhi, in terms of some of his policy pronouncements – only growth being able to solve India’s problems, being one. Not the usual staid socialistic claptrap that passes for congress politicians’ thinking. And, a clear, discernible empathy for the poor of India – the poor see through frauds very easily – and they seem to be rooting for Rahul – clearly a message for the anti-gandhi family nuts on this group?
Of course, people on this group are adept at shooting at the messenger, rather than debating the message.
Cheers
@Patriot:
Agree on the part about shooting the messenger. But on any discussion forum, I see extremes on both end. There are people who wont see Narendra Modi’s development work but focus on his role in the riots. The same way there are others who wont acknowledge any efforts Rahul Gandhi and will harp on his family background or personal life (and insist on calling him ‘Raoul’!).
RE: Salil –
“I see extremes on both end. There are people who wont see Narendra Modi’s development work but focus on his role in the riots. The same way there are others who wont acknowledge any efforts Rahul Gandhi and will harp on his family background or personal life”
I agree, Salil. And, this kind of discussion is not helpful, at all – it is just glorified school yard, recess time, name calling. It has been one reason that I stopped responding on many issues here, and to some of the commentators – just a waste of time.
Re: Modi vs Gandhi – interesting point that you raise – but, as a classical liberal, I would uphold the protection of life and liberty over that of development. And, that is where Modi loses – if the state could not protect its own people (both hindus and muslims died in the riots), then what price and what value development?
Cheers
I thought that I read some contradictory remarks… Maybe I am mistaken… Like the 5 minute importance India actually gives whether naturally or by force, to Pakistan. I somehow find it funny, a sense of superiority, by pointing out other’s inferiority… To hide own failures under carpet… I hope you guys read the story in which context the remarks were made…
I love the views as they shift from a person to person, looking for perfections and failures as per convenience.
BTW do read the first comment on the story… It may be of a wise man
I somehow find it funny, a sense of superiority, by pointing out other’s inferiority
And you’re free from the same attitude?
@ Rohit –
“I love the views as they shift from a person to person, looking for perfections and failures as per convenience.”
Please do explain – I am all ears.
Rahul for PM ………………………………………………. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… of Pakistan 🙂
I somehow find it funny, a sense of superiority, by pointing out other’s inferiority
I addressed the feeling of superiority in my other post in secularism. A person basically reacts in two ways when confronted with failure. One he admits it. Second he says see that… That is a more failed guy so I am right guy.
I love the views as they shift from a person to person, looking for perfections and failures as per convenience.
It is natural for a person to get hurt when his her role model is found to be faulty. Just like in this case… When one reads the entire story, we find that Roul is laughable on subject he is addressing… Foreign policy and Indo Pak relations. Now the damage done by Roul is not measurable so the fun around it.
@Patriot (#12)
And, that is where Modi loses – if the state could not protect its own people (both hindus and muslims died in the riots), then what price and what value development?
My actual point was that the extremes in thought do exist. I do agree with you that Modi is a total failure with respect to the riots. So even if he comes out as the best in economic development, that does not exonerate him from his role in the riots.
That is where the fault is… In case of choice between faith native to this nation, formed on premise of everything is fine and Monolithic Religions imported from Mecca and Rome, only this way, no other way, I will stand with those who have faith native to the nation… Come whatever may.
So your native faith teaches you to kill innocents?
I said if the choice is for taking the side of faith.
Shantanu,
This much attention to Rahul Gandhi’s words is perhaps a tacit admission of our helplessness in preventing his PM-ship in the future. Somehow may be we secretly hope that he doesn’t turn out as bad.
Merchant’s son is a merchant, actor’s son is an actor, singer’s son is a singer, tailor’s son is a tailor, butcher’s son is butcher, so why not Raja’s son becomes the Raja. After all Ashoka was the son of Bindusara who was the son of Chandragupta Maurya!
My point is that: I would not be the least bit surprised if masses think that Raja’s son deserves to the Raja, and Rahul is *entitled* to the throne!
Deep down I hate to admit it, there’s not much that shall be done to prevent him becoming PM of India in the future. Just a matter of time. Scary. Realistically speaking, my only hope is that he earns it. I don’t want to sound like a fatalist, I am merely trying to anticipate the most likely possibility. 🙁
One has to read this and believe this is true. This article creates a god out of Roul… Everyone has to have great common sense in order to get good governance from democratic form of governance. Otherwise people are out there to feed a new faith crap.

I have extracted below a reply given Hon. Dayanidhi Maran, the cabinet minister for textiles. This extract is a part of the reply to the querry by shri eknath mahadeo gaikwad in the Lok Sabha on 2nd of July 2009. Happy reading. Cheers!!!

We are aware that the export market is slipping down the target whereas the domestic market is stagnating. We feel that there is not much job loss in the domestic market. The
Government is aware of it and from time to time we have been taking steps to boost the exports and to boost the export market we really need good order. But if we do not get good orders we support our textile exporters so that it will be possible for them to export.
Simultaneously, we are monitoring the situation and we assure that time and again we will take necessary steps to boost the growth of this sector.
