Quick notes from Indore
Landed just after rains had hit the city…It is cool with a light breeze…could not have asked for better weather…
Spoke to two groups this morning and several conversations on the side…This can be pretty exhausting…I have not spoken so much in a very long time…worrying about a hoarse throat…Wonder how “real” politicians manage to go through an intense election campaign packed with meetings…
Two more meetings to go this evening…one beginning in about an hour…
Quick impressions:
- The young have an amazing sense of optimism in the future of the country…
- It is very refreshing and energising to start the day by talking to a group that has hope in their eyes and self-confidence to achieve their dreams
- The education system (in general) needs to encourage students to ask questions…I wonder if the present set-up stifles natural curiousity
- For a lot of people, “Politics” is still something that you read about 🙁
More later.

Great to hear that Shantanu. I am keenly watching the Indore outreach, very exited that it is going well.
Sorry – could not respond on the presentation etc. Just got back to London, and beginning to wrap up my stay here now.
See you once you are back ! All the best for talks. cheers !!
Hi Shantanu,
Really excited about your Indore visit- do share in detail once you are back. on a completely different note- BBC in London aired a programme on the Mumbai attacks- they are suggesting- not claiming, at least just yet- that there were local spotters on the ground- something that the current Maharashtra administration is vehemently denying all along- says something about keeping an open mind in an investigation- I am now wondering whether is it simply potential vested interests or also a trait you have highlighted in this post- systemic throttling of curiosity in education-that appears to have jaded even some of our best detectives.
Enjoy Indore- eat some more on my behalf in the sarafa and look forward to catching up with you on your return.
Cheers
Ashutosh
Dear Shantanuji, If I have good memory then You were 5-6 class Senior in Kedriya Vidyalaya Indore-1 (Near Zoo).
Today evening, I attended Presentation of Shri Shantanu Bhagwatji at Jall Auditorium, organised by IMA. It was a thought provoking session.
My Best Wishes to his team
Mr. Shantanu,
I did attend your talk at Impetus Indore. I have a question from you: will your MP’s not favor the people (business) who are going to finance FTI’s elections?
Regards,
Upendra.
Wow! You are in Indore? I stay here 🙂
Hi Shantanu,
I know it’s been a long time that you left Indore but somethings you may not like to miss are:
– Bhutte ka Kees
– Vijay ki Patties (pronounced “ragda patees” in theth Indori accent)and Gulab Jaamuns
– Dal-Bafle (if system permits 🙂
– The affection and simplicity of its people
– The scent of malwa’s soil (it is lovely in rainy season)
Take care and have a fruitful and enjoyable stay in the heart of India…
Thanks all for your thoughts…more on this later…It has been a great and very intense experience…
