12 Lakh Christians to convert?
Some of you probably read 20,000 Christians threaten to revert to Hinduism but today I came across 12 Lakh Vanniya Christians “contemplating” reverting to Hinduism (by A.V. Ragunathan):
VILLUPURAM: Over 12 lakh Vanniya Christians in Tamil Nadu will revert to Hinduism if they do not get a fair deal from the church.
The church, that has not taken any worthwhile measures to abolish caste discrimination, should not put the blame on the Vanniya Christians for creating divisions within the flock, C. Arokkiadas, founder of the Vanniya Christhava Sangham, told The?Hindu.
The Christians were verily divided on caste lines and it became accentuated during the recent Eraiyur incident. Mr. Arokkiadas said while the caste Vanniyas, classified as Most Backward Class, had the backing of political leaders, the Vanniya Christians, categorised as Backward Classes, did not have the support of the church and had to fend for themselves.

“…Exposing the deep-seated animosities and divisions within the fold, over 20,000 caste Christians of Eraiyur village have threatened to revert to Hinduism unless a seperate parish was provided to the Dalit Christians there.
A parish in Eraiyur village was devastated by violent clashes between two groups a fortnight ago. It all started with the Arch Bishop Antony Anandarayar permitting Dalit Christians to undertake a funeral procession on Church Road, a privilege they have been denied for more than a century…
Protesting against this, the caste Christians have boycotted prayer sessions at the St Rosary Church for the past three days.
Anandarayar assured that none would be discriminated in church on any ground and this has not gone well with the caste Christians who have accused the bishop of not considering the sentiments of the majority. They have also stated that by the decree an age-old custom and tradition has been broken….”

@swami:-…before taking relish over the revert story of christians…kindly note that these were only the hindus who had converted and entered christian faith….so christianity is not loosing any original members…..what about hinduism who have lost so innumerable adherents to other faiths…..and theres no question of members of other faiths joining hindu fold…so here i find more chances of hinduism dying a painful death at the hands of hindus themselves….

I guess this discrimination and the conflict between castes asking for separate caste based parishes proves no other religion can come and claim to solve india’s social problems.
If casteism was purely a hindu problem, this situation must have never arisen. Divisions of society basically occurs due to lack of moral values and lack of respect for others, and the need to prove “I am better than someone else”.
Trying to convert others by just showing money, books, saviors, nothing helps the situation. What we need is real reformation of mind, a development of ethics and values which are insisted from childhood. If the religious leaders instead of focusing on trying to increase their flocks following them blindly, instead preached love, respect for fellow life (which includes everything on our earth, not just humans), and selflessness, we wont be sitting here trying to defend religions, calling one is better than another.
If this truly happens, religions wouldnt have to compete for the souls of people.
But will these so called priests, mullahs and acharyas wake up, and look beyond the words and go into the true experience of truth and universal love?
When that happens both the good and bad in the books dont matter, we can learn to grow beyond books. But till then we will defend bad in the books and say that is god’s words, so even doing evil is justified. God must be wondering where he/she/it went wrong.

Dear Sir,
God’s do not fight, religions do not fight. People fight. When do people fight, when they feel betrayed of any sort, you name it and take it. I am not here to explain.
When religion is something to pander to the whims and fancies of an individual, that is no religion at all. It is not a game to be played, it is something beyond it, something deep , so deep that even today no group is able to define it or keep the “FLOCK”.
A true religion is a way of life. It does not intrude into other peoples life, IT IS.

Every Hindu who converted to other faiths will return back to parent dharma, if we create a condusive environment in Hindu samaj. There should not be any discrimination based upper-lower, gender, place of worship etc. Those are not happy souls, who left their ancestors age-old culture, heritage and trying to cope-up with foreign systems Allah and Jesus. They need to know, only Bhagavan and Sanatan Dharma can satisfy their spiritual thirsts and peaceful living with dignity.

300 Dalit Christians come back to Hindu fold in TN
MADURAI, APR 15 (PTI)
About 300 “Dalit Christians”, including 180 women, have ‘recoverted’ to Hinduism at Tirunelveli, 150 km from here, in Tamil Nadu, alleging ‘discrimination’ in Christian community.
The ‘reconversion’ was held in the presence of “Hindu Saints Peravai (federation)” organiser Swami Sadha Shivananda yesterday at a ceremony organised jointly by Hindu Makkal Katchi and Hindu Dharmaseva Trust, police said.
However, the organisers said that the number of people who got reconverted were 800.
Head of ancient Saivite mutt, Sengole Adheenam, Kalyanasundara Sathya Gnana Pandara Swamigal handed over ‘certificates converting them to Hindusim.’
Those who ‘recoverted’ also said they were returning to Hinduism as they would get back their scheduled caste SC status and get benefits of job reservation.
The religious leaders smeared holy ash on the forehead of the reconverted Christians and gave them Hindu names. They read out a “printed oath” wherein it was stated that they got reconverted on their own wish.
