Now its the turn of Iran…

Chidanand Rajghatta wrote in The Times of India two days ago about how US may be using Pakistan  in efforts to destabilise the current regime in Iran (“US using Pakistan to destabilise Iran“). As Shri Rajghatta observed in conclusion:

If the report of Pakistan’s role in this US-backed venture is correct, then Islamabad would stand accused of using terrorism against three of its four neighbours Iran, Afghanistan and India with only China the only exception.”

Some excerpts:

“…A Pakistani tribal militant group called Jundullah, which has claimed responsibility for deadly guerrilla attacks against Iran, including killing Iranian soldiers and officials in its border region, has been secretly encouraged and advised by American officials since 2005, ABC News said, citing unnamed US and Pakistani intelligence sources.

ABC said Pakistani government sources confirmed that the secret campaign against Iran by Jundullah was on the agenda when vice president Dick Cheney met with Pakistani dictator Pervez Musharraf in February, an exchange that would corroborate reports that Washington was using Pakistan in its campaign against Iran and part of US kid glove treatment of Islamabad, which is itself accused of terrorism in Afghanistan and India, was because of this.

…tribal sources told ABC News that money is funneled to Jundulla’s youthful leader, Abdel Malik Regi, through Iranian exiles with connections in Europe and Gulf states.

…Jundullah has claimed credit for several attacks on Iranian military and government facilities on the border with Pakistan, including an attack in February that killed at least 11 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard riding on a bus in Zahedan….Iran has apprehended some Jundullah terrorists and said it has obtained confessions that they had been trained for the mission at a secret location in Pakistan. It has blamed both the CIA and Pakistan for the attacks …”
