    Quoting from ELST book:-
    Intolerance in Islam:-

“The fundamental intolerance and fanaticism of Islam are an undeniable fact. They can readily be proven from a large number of Quranic verses. Since quoting the Quaran may get this book banned, I will merely give the verse numbers, so you can check it for yourself. Islam promises hell to the Kafirs in Quran 3:85, 4:56, 5:37, 5:72, 8:55, 9:28, 15:2, 21:98-100, 22:19-22, 22:56-57, 25:17-19, 25:55, 29:53-55, 31:13, 66:9, 68:10-13, 72:14- 15, 98-51. Islam warms against mixing with Kafirs in Quran 2:21, 3:28, 3:118, 5:51, 5:144, 9:7, 9:28, 58:23, 60:4. Islam calls on Muslims to wage war against the Kafirs in Quran 2:191, 2:193, 4:66, 4:84,5:33, 8:12, 8:15-18, 8:39, 8:59-60, 8:65, 9:2-3, 9:5, 9:14, 9:29, 9:39, 9:73,9:111, 9:123, 25:52, 37:22-23, 47:4-5, 48:29, 69:30-37. Islam encourages the war against the Kafirs by glorifying it in Quran 2:216, 9:41, 49:15, or by promising lust in paradise to the Shaheeds who die in such a war, in Quran 3:142, 3:157-158, 9:20–21. The Hadis is also explicit enough, and proves that Prophet put the Quranic injunctions into practice.”

Dear Shantnu i also read KORAN and BIBLE , i accept that KORAN not in Arabic since i don’t know Arabic but i try to learn some day.
But same thing i came to know about so called Tolerance in Islam.
Now your talking about Traditional Hindvadi people i know to who your pointing regarding Uniform Civil Code.
Have you ever thought about those appeasement created by Secular or so called self Proclaimed Liberal people in India.
Appeasement to minority(which though are not minority according to UN definition of minority) but anyway the appeasement which are even against the article of Constitution 26,30 etc and many more.
Case of Shah Bano etc to quote few.
Problem is not that we are traditional vadi but you never sit with leader of traditional hinduvadi to know why they talk about Uniform Civil Code?

  2. Ashok Chowgule says:

Any code, whether civil or criminal, has to pass the test whether it is fair in today’s circumstances or not. And if a provision is fair for one community, then it is fair for ALL communities. Thus a common civil code. The test for fairness is to be determined by an effective manthan in the samaj. And not to be decided by some supposed leaders, particularly if the leaders have a track record of being obscurnatist, etc.

  3. B Shantanu says:

Thank you Ashok-ji. I agree with you re. test of “fairness” but surely it is possible to have differences between communities? and I suppose one could live with that as long as everyone agrees to basic norms of society (e.g. not marrying off girls while they are still teenagers)?

  4. Ashok Chowgule says:

    Shantanuji,

Can you give examples of some differences? Difference also imply that some method is better than another. In that case why should a community be satisfied by an inferior method?

    Namaste
    Ashok Chowgule

  5. Karmasura says:
