On Islamism, unspeakable truth and Jews..

Thanks to Jay for the link to this talk by Tarek Fatah. In this 15-odd minutes video, he talks of Islamism, the truth that dares not speaks its name & how it starts with the Jews…

As Jay mentioned in his email, this is

A really thought-provoking analysis of Islamic terrorism by  a Canadian of Indian origin, who also happens to have been born as a Muslim.. A self-proclaimed and critical Marxist.

His honesty and sincerity about the religion of his birth are something that Indian Marxists should try and emulate. What we have here are the jholawallahs bending over backwards to be sympathetic to a force that is nothing but Islamo-fascism.

Few days back I came across one more news talk on net from Tarek Fatah against allowing Islamic prayers in public school in Canada. Will post that video in next comment.

Hats off to dear Tarek.World is comming closer.Human beings are becoming more rational, analytical, broad minded and friendly to freedom of speech without any fear from oppositors or voilence.

This video is not related to post but related to why and what issue they were discussing in above Tarek Fatah video posted in comment#3.

  4. The idea of a lower standard of law for Muslims (e.g. Taliban) should not be tolerated. In BFN I have advocated a COMMON MINIMUM STANDARD for all religions in India. That is not the same as universal civil code, but it will ensure that no one is treated badly just because he or she happens to have been born into a religion that has a lower standard (in some forms of its practice).

I don’t agree with Fatah in his key thesis, however.

This war (against so-called “Islamism – I’m unable to make such an artificial distinction from Islam, for Islam must first PROVE that it is different from Islamism by excommunicating such “Islamists”) can’t be fought physically.

In addition the connivance of Muslim leaders world wide (save a few exceptions) the problem is aggravated by the continuance of soft racism in the West (AND IN INDIA). The greatest danger therefore comes from Muslims who have migrated to the West – and can’t find jobs because of social discrimination. In Mumbai, too, Muslims complain that they can’t get houses to rent. All this leads to so-called “Islamism”.

The spread of the ideas of liberty is the ultimate solution to this disease.

But two intermediate steps are crucial if this problem has to die:

    a) Muslims LEADERS (not atheist “Marxists” like Tarek Fatah who have ZERO credibility in the Muslim community) must VIGOROUSLY and PUBLICLY excommunicate ALL those who take the name of the Quoran to preach violence. Unless I hear EVERY Muslim leader excommunicate such killers, I’m unable to distinguish them from other Muslims.

    b) The world (including the West and India) must work hard to eliminate racism/stereotyping. Unless Muslims (the good ones that remain, after excommunication) are treated equally in all respects – and not discriminated against, a small proportion of them will inevitably gravitate towards violence, and justify it with the convenient “logic” of “Islamism” – a branch of Islamic thought.

This problem is unlike fascism in that it the enemy does NOT have an army that can be defeated. This problem is unlike communism in that it is NOT geographically isolated to a few countries, and is NOT guaranteed to self-destruct.

This problem is more like leukaemia – a cancer that lives WITHIN OUR SOCIETIES. In fact, physically fighting it recklessly (careless “surgery”) can metastasise the cancer and spread it even wider, by giving fodder to the “logic” of the so-called “Islamists”.

The fight has to be more subtle, with TWO pincers – 1) to ISOLATE each Muslim who adopts Islamism ((Muslims MUST excommunicate), and 2) to EQUALISE treatment of each Muslim (the West and India MUST reduce racial discrimination).

The Muslims MUST excommunicate first, to avoid the misconception in society that Islam is the cause.

Once that happens, the West (and India) must vigorously ensure equal treatment.

That way the “bad” Muslims will be isolated and (hopefully) rehabilitated.

Madly sending more soldiers into the Middle East to “fight” an unknown enemy (as Fatah wants) won’t solve this problem.

Thank god there is this guy along with Dr. Swamy. I pray that we need more of these kind if not as he said in the closing “our children will not excuse us”.

I see little that distinguishes Tarek Fatah’s message from the one delivered brutally to the Norwegian Labour Party by Anders Breiwick. If Tarek is right then Anders perforce has to be right but it is quite evident that if anything there has been a closing of the ranks against such arguements. Religion has little real significance to a world that does not believe in Allah or God excepting the Jews of Israel and Muslims. Except for the Jews and Mulims, we are all serving out our life sentences which is the term of our biological lives. The West is already in a crises of its own making. It has to rise out of it before it can confront its existential challenges. The only thing that the secular world is able to do is referee the rules of the game as it is played out. All great movements from the Romans was underpinned by religious fervour. The absence of it in the West has doomed it to extinction. Will Hinduism be able to save the day? It had not been able to answer afirmatively in the 2 thousands years of history that Bharat has under assault of every conceivable type. I will leave that to be answered by others who should ponder there own futures. It seems that the problem for the world is that Islam held on to its beleifs as the rest of the world has abandoned theirs for mammon. God has prescribed the ultimate punishment for this offence.

  7. cricfan says:

There’s a serious problem with Muslim leadership in India. There’s little even in terms of thought leadership let alone political. well-known samples:
    1. No to polio vaccination.
    2. No to ‘right to education’.
    3. Ostracizing Muslims who want to develop Gujarat so that the state can be a poster-child for atrocity tourism based funding.
    4. Allowing retarded separatists to call the shots in Kashmir.

I firmly believe that regardless of what the “book” says, majority of ordinary Indian muslims go about their own business, but the congress has systematically eroded their (as well as Hindus’) confidence in the system over 60 years, using Muslims(and others) as pawns every step of the way. The congress and its cronies is never going to allow a smart (say a Shashi Tharoor type or a Shantanu type) progressive muslim voice who wants to truly uplift muslims into the mainstream. Look at how Abdul Kalam has been sidelined by the insidious clerics. I bet my last dollar, that he (despite his obvious limitations as a politician) would have done a far better job than Sonia as prime minister and helped both hindus and muslims truly progress.

  8. Neil says:

@Sanjeev: Seems even this talk has not opened your eyes and you have just written stuff the gentleman in the video warned us about…!!!

A couple of comments: Islam is not a race..So talking about islamic terrorism is not racism…Get this fact!!! When people treat muslims with suspicion, they happen to judge them by their “book” and their history; which I believe is not the right way to do(simply because not all muslims follow their book strictly; and are pretty normal harmless human beings); but this suspicion does not give rise to the principles in the muslim scriptures; it’s rather the other way round. And the global jihad doesn’t help either!

Unless people talk freely about the threats islamic ideology poses to the world, rather than hiding it under the carpet(as you have suggested), we can only expect a terrible future!!! Appeasement and tolerance of deplorable ideologies has to stop. And we must understand that therer is no need to be apologetic about it..

Tarek Fatah is not afraid to speak the truth. Really passionate and brave. His 8 or 9 part video on youtube is even better. Indian media hosts should watch that series. Seriously.

This is a 9 part video list. But worth a watch. Some of his points are quite subtle observations in my opinion:
