India is “secular” because…

…of Indian Hindus.

M J Akbar in BJP, Left face existential dilemma:

India is not a secular nation because Indian Muslims want it to be secular. India is a secular nation because Indian Hindus want it to be secular.

Syed Shahabuddin, Convenor, Babri Masjid Coordination Committee in ‘Sunday‘ dt. March 20, ’83 [ link ]:

Hindus profess secularism because they are cowards and are afraid of Muslim countries.

  1. Check this out. Reverse Discrimination against the demonized Hindus by Congress. Congress to companies: Hire Muslims or face action and here.

This coming from same Salman Khurshid who was Muslim’s lawyer in Shri Ram Janambhoomi – Babri Encroachment Dhancha case.

    Gem of a quote.

Add “communal secularist” MJ Akbar to the list of people who gained from the Babri Encroachment Dhancha case and now profess love for “Indians”.

  3. WrongEnglish-CrypticStatement says:

Is this a sample of plain bad writing… or, is it a sample of cryptic writing ??

“India is not a secular nation because….” ???

or did M J Akbar mean to say —

“India is a secular nation, not because …” ???

Akbar’s “India is not a secular nation because Indian Muslims want it to be secular. India is a secular nation because Indian Hindus want it to be secular.” does not mean that the same Hindus understand what secularism really means. What it does mean is that as ahimsa has taught to revear all livings things, they have been incapable of conceiving that others have designs that have been destrucitve of their nation. This gateway has always been prised opened by itinerant preachers and traders intent on the expansion of their commonwealth and profit. For Hindus, engaging in metaphysics with all comers might give them pride, but for others it is the avenue for much greater objectives. Since the Hindu polity has struggled to define the political space, I should expect more banality to issue from the likes of Akbar who would have us belief that Islam should not carry a “health warning” label.
