FTI comes of age…

Those of you who have been long-time readers of this blog will know about FTI (Freedom Team of India).

Some of you would have also read the series of posts by Sanjeev Sabhlok – who is the main inspiration behind Freedom Team of India.

I am glad to have been involved with the team, right since the time of its “birth” (c. 2007)….and it pleases me a lot to see the remarkable progress we have made in this short span of time – not least due to the indefatigable energy of Sanjeev and the 30-odd members.

Earlier this week, on the occassion of our 60th Republic Day, FTI came of age…It realeased its first brochure – to which about a dozen members contributed. The brochure mentions our core beliefs and vision and suggests ways in which you can get involved.

The Team also has a presence on the web now. It is important to mention that FTI is not a political party but more of a platform for political activists to come together and have serious and in-depth discussions about policies – and ideology – which is at the heart of good governance.

As the brochure says:

The Team, established…aims to provide a forum for policy, strategy, and leadership development. It aims to find at least 1500 outstanding leaders in India to contest elections in the coming years under the banner of freedom and world-best policy.

The great advantage this has is that you can continue to be a member (or supporter) of other groups while reaping the benefit(s) of a forum where you can have serious discussions in a non-competitive environment.

I would encourage everyone who has more than a passing interest in politics (and aims to contest elections at some stage) to join the group (more details in the brochure).

As a Team member said,

“…We have the capacity and power to change India so no that one has to ever sleep hungry, or feel discriminated or disenfranchised. We want an India where, in the words of Tagore, ‘the mind is without fear and the head is held high’”

Let us all work towards this goal.  Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!

I would suggest FTI to have a separate email group for members considering to join FTI as leaders. This group could serve as a group where they can discuss about FTI, and probably FTI leaders could answer their questions.

On a different note, I feel the “About us” page (http://freedomteam.in/?file=aboutus) should really be talking about who are the current members. I found it to be too rude (it starts with a warning!) Not good for a team considering to contest elections!

Abhinav: Thanks for your suggestions…I will pass them on to the group.

Potential members or those who are interested in finding out more can also post their comments/questions here:

  3. Thanks Abhinav

    Both suggestions are being progressed.

Now there are three ways to find out more about FTI –

    a) Read the discussions at:
    https://satyameva-jayate.org/2008/01/09/freedom-team-for-india/

    b) Read FAQs at:
    http://freedomteam.in/?file=faq

    c) Join the newly created Google group: http://groups.google.com/group/fti-inquiries-questions-suggestions and ask questions there

As far as the ‘About us’ is concerned, a review of this page is happening as we speak.

    Regards
    Sanjeev

Thanks a lot Sanjeev Ji and Shantanu Ji. This would help a lot to people like me who are trying to understand Freedom Team better. I am currently reading “Breaking free of Nehru” and would be posting questions as I try understanding it.

    Sorry for my late reply.
