    Hi,
    I am going to participate.

  2. Sootradhaar says:

Shantanu…will be there to participate in the conference!

  3. Reena Singh says:

    I can’t join but I have suggestions.

    1) Let us Privatise Counter-Terrorism Efforts. It is not just the responsibility of the State. From now on, it should also be the responsibility of the Individual.

    2) Let every Hindu immediately apply for a Licensed Gun and learn to use it when necessary.

Imagine the plight of the Jihadis if some armed-CST train passengers or armed Taj Hotel guests pulled out their licensed pistols/revolvers and fired back on the shocked Jihadis. The death-toll would be lower. The morale of the Jihadis is broken.

    3) Everyday, You must Work Diligently towards bringing the Muslims back to their Hindu roots. Keep reminding them of their roots.. reconnect them with their past… gently rekindle their ancestral memories. When they are ready, take the help of your local Hindu organisations to conduct their

    4) Educate yourself and others – not just about Hindu Dharma, but more importantly, educate yourself and others about Islam.

Spread the Word amongst your family, friends and relatives – Every Hindu should do these 4 things as a Religious Duty.

  4. Reena Singh says:

In point # 3, the last sentence should read: “When they are ready, take the help of your local Hindu organisations to conduct their “reversion” ceremony (Shuddhikaran).

    ——————–

P.S: If the Hindus live under fear of Islam when Hindus are a 80% majority, then imagine your plight when Hindus are a merely 40-50% of the population.

    Fight or Perish !

  5. vijay says:

Is there any bridge number where i can join?

  6. Dirt Digger says:

    Shantanu,
I will not be attending the call, due to prior commitments.
However there are a couple of issues, I wanted to bring up, which are the Gun control in India and India-Israel relationships.
    Good luck with the call.

  7. Nirav says:

    Hi Shantanu,

I have been a passive reader for a long time now. Would have liked to participate, but will have to give this one a miss. That said, wanted to pledge my support for future activities that you intend to undertake.

    Regards

  8. Arby K says:

I do not have any comments on how to protect Indian from terrorism. Lesser gun control will be double edged, may not be a positive factor when paranoia is high.

As for political reform in India, now is the time to act and remove the entry barrier that inhibits capable leaders from joining politics. I’ve posted about it here http://disjointedlaptop.wordpress.com/2008/11/30/a-time-to-act/

  9. Pragya says:

    Shantanu,

Am a little hestitant to put this request forward knowing that you are very hard pressed for time. But for the people who couldn’t make it today, can you or any other participant please brief the other readers on the discussions and the action items as a followup comment on this post?

    Thanks,

  10. Dosabandit says:

Unfortunately I could not attend the call. Can someone, like Shantanu requested, please update all of us absentees on the discussion? Any plans for further calls?

  11. Guru Charan says:

    ShantanuJi,

Sorry for not being able to attend the call. When you do have next call, i will be there. But Reena Singh has given very valuable suggestions. To my mind that is the only way out. We cannot expect Islam to reform. But we can make muslims see the horror that their ideology brings on people and make them leave Islam. And more importantly educate other ignorant Hindus about Islam and its dangerous ideology. This is something practical that everyone of us can do. And it has to be done with a missionary zeal. We have for long been fed with poison called “Sarva Dharma Sama Bhava” AKA Indian version of “Secularism”. This has made us refuse to look at the reality of oppressive ideologies like Christianity and Islam.

More than muslims, the ignorance of Hindus about the truth of Islam is proving to be our enemy. They have no confusion. It is we who suffer from all confusions and lack of clarity.

We all can work on this. This involves no violence. It is an intellectual battle that we all can fight armed with the right knowledge of these dangerous ideologies.

    My two cents.

    Best Wishes,

    Guru

  12. B Shantanu says:

All: Thanks to Krishna, SootraDhaar, Piyush, Vamshi and Suriya who participated for varying durations on the call today…Thanks to Piyush and Sootradhaar in particular who pretty much stayed right through the 90mins and provided some very thought-provoking discussion.

I was not taking notes but a few points emerged which I am noting below (in no particular order). Piyush and SootraDhaar – please add your thoughts below too.

    ***

    Summary of the call:

    1. It would be good to begin efforts towards a draft “Common Minimum Programme” of sorts on which we ALL can agree on. To be broadly acceptable, it needs to be simple and straightforward.. I will keep thinking about this.

    2. Piyush advocated loosening up gun-laws (something similar to what Reena, Dirt-Digger and Arby proposed in the comments above)

    3. All of us felt that we need more citizen participation in politics…

I will try and do another call in the next few days – depending on my workload. This time we will try a phone bridge – with an Indian number. Not sure how well it will work – but we will not know unless we try.

Suggestions for Agenda welcome (Dirt-Digger, I have noted your suggestion re. India-Israeli relations. Presume you have already checked the NY Times link posted by Indian on another thread)

    ***

@ Reena, Vijay, Nirav, Pragya, Dosabandit and Guru: Hope you can join the next call.

    ***

@ Arby: I will check out your post.

    Thanks All.

  13. Guru Charan says:

    All,

Please watch this video. It seems like a condolence meeting for the Jewish Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka Holtzberg. A great speech.

    Sincerely,

    Guru

  14. K.Harapriya says:

On a side note, watch this speech by Radha Rajan on intellectual subversion and intellectual terrorism.

  15. Guru Charan says:

    Harapriya,

I have seen that video before and it is a great video. I have rarely seen such clarity of thought even among those in the BJP. If the BJP had a few leaders with such clear thinking and understanding, then we wouldn’t be in the situation we are in.

    Jai Hind,

    Guru

  16. K.Harapriya says:

@ Shantanu and Guru Charan. Here is an initiative that I would really like to be a part of–the initiative to create an independent tv 24 hours news channel which would be a Hindu voice in the sea of secular cacophony. I am trying to find out if such a channel is already in the works. I think there is something called Sudharshan TV which is supposed to be the Sangh’s answer to CNN but I really don’t know anything about it.

What do you think about working toward something like this which would be a very public repudiation of the secular progressive/communist hegemony of the existing news media?

  17. Guru Charan says:

    ShantanuJi, Harapriya and others,

This thought about media to present a Hindu/Sanatana Dharma viewpoint has been in my mind. It is an interesting coincidence that you should bring this up. Speak of thought waves traveling far and wide.

But what i have in mind is this. If there is going to be a Hindu media, it should not be based on the 24 hr channel model. That is not a healthy model. Here is why. I believe the 24 hour channel is an unhealthy bombardment and mind conditioning that takes place. They are always hungry for sensations and have to constantly worry about TRP ratings and have to peddle propaganda as news. Since corporations fund channels with agendas in their mind, often truth becomes the casualty. Look what the popular 24 hour channels are doing. They are committed to TRP ratings and profits. See how the channels behaved during the Bombay attacks. Giving crucial information and operational details thoughtlessly. I had heard friends singing paens to Arnab Goswami of Times now. No doubt he is less virulent compared to the scumbags of CNN-IBN or NDTV, but he is mediocre all the same.

If somebody is going to think of a Hindu channel/media, it should not be ratings/advertisement dependent. And it should not be for 24 hours. It should be at the most 3 hours every day. And it should be funded by donations from committed Hindus. Something along the lines of NPR, Public television, etc. Then the channel can be independent and committed to truth. It should have news in addition to programs related to Hindu history something along the lines of a Discovery or a History channel. It should be based on scholarship and thorough irrefutable research. If it is a for a short time, you can have enough programming.

These are some of the things that i have in mind regarding a media/channel.

    Vande Mataram,

    Guru

  18. K.Harapriya says:

That is exactly what I was thinking of. Something along the lines of public broadcasting with news, editorial meet the press shows along with programs hightlighting the past glories and also shows which throw light on non-political current events–i.e news on the environment or our energy needs etc. It can be 24 hours just not 24 hours of news.–

I do believe that such a network can gather enough funds from the public. So how and when do we start?

  19. Guru Charan says:

To add to the previous post, regarding donations from committed Hindus, it does not have to be big donations. It can be small sum of money but from a large population committed to Dharma to cover all the operating expenses.

    Vande Mataram!

  20. vijay says:

    Here are my views.

    a. Private- Security Forces trained similar to elite commando’s of SAS.
    b. Appoint SWAT consultants from Israel/Britain/US for training our army / security force.
    c. If Tax money is used to fund Defense & Police budgets, In India, people believe in evading tax then paying up.
Depending on Tax Money itself to provide better equipment for our forces is not enough. There should be funds setup so that our defense forces can buy better equipment. As I suggested before in the forum, The leading
industrial houses can be made to contribute yearly. Our so called Bollywood stars can raise money thru shows, like it or not most (upper-class,Middle-class) Indians would spend $$$ on tickets for such shows rather than donating it for a good cause.

    d. Having Reserve forces ( as in the US), where any individual can serve the army for few days every month.

  21. Dosabandit says:

I am glad, but not surprised, to know that there are many thinking of starting an independent TV channel bringing out the truth. While I agree that the 24×7 model is not right, it does not have to be 24×7 news. We could start a 24 hour channel with news and discussions held at prime time and independent documentaries and analysis at other times. The documentaries and analysis could help educate and “un-brainwash” the people. These could also help instill pride in our nation which is sorely lacking. People seem to see down upon everything Indian. Perhaps we could discuss this in the next call?

  22. B Shantanu says:

@ Harapriya: Thanks for the link at #14 above. All: I would recommend everyone to have a look (whether you agree or disagree with Radha Rajan-ji)

    ***

@ Vijay: India does have Reserve Forces, called the Territorial Army.

    ***

Guru, Harapriya and Dosabandit: Perhaps a discussion around media biases can be part of the next call. Still working on the date/time.

    Thanks.

    )

  23. Indian says:

I agree, little donation will also work. NRI can begin from $1 to any amount they like to but in mass. Not only for TV., channel but also for other positve change. Let start with small amount so people will like to donate happily. Once mission gets momentum than they will happily go for big amount also.

    Jai Hind!
