Sanjeev: Excellent points...You are right that the title may lead to confusion (and worse, chaos).

I need to think about that...I liked the idea if weaving freedom into the title...and it certainly needs to be on the agenda...

These are early days on the project...I am trying to find some sponsors for this (and a few people have expressed tentative interest).

Lot more needs to happen before it can become a reality...so, inputs, comemnts and suggestions are very welcome.

More on this in the days to come.

Dear Shantanu

I like the idea of a Hope Summit, but do you think itself the title should become more focused, or possibly a suitable sub-title found? I'm sure you have thought through these issues, but here are a few of my thoughts for what they are worth.

People differ dramatically in their world-views and their hopes are different. Hope can be be interpreted or misinterpreted by everyone to suit their taste.

Some people may well hope for socialism, some may hope to destroy property rights and equalise wealth. Some people may hope that the government should fund them from cradle to grave. Some others may hope for utopias where people are perfect and everything works to their personal liking. Some may hope for a Ram Rajya where their version of Hinduism prevails!

Inviting everyone who 'hopes' for a greater India may lead to chaos and break up the effort since not everyone's hopes can be or should be fulfilled through joint social action.

Could the flavour of the search for freedom and integrity be woven into the title? Or a mission statement devised for the proposed summit? Freedom is the core business of a government and the reason why a nation exists. Not charity, not religious aggrandisation, not favourtism of any sort towards anyone. Equal freedom with equal opportunity - that 'mantra' is critical to any society's success. 'Hope for Liberty' summit? 'Liberty for All' summit? 'Freedom Summit'?

Inviting people those who hope for greater freedom, greater equality of opportunity and the consequential integrity in governance and society would lead to a more productive outcome, and advance the focused effort underway with the Freedom Team (freedomteam.in) to create a party or group of candidates who will deliver integrity and good policy. I'd love to find this summit endorse the work of FTI and for its invitees to join the team as leaders. (noting that no one need change their existing party or effort to join this team which is an alliance of leaders, not a party at the moment).

Anyway, these are surely things you have considered. I keenly look forward to further development of this summit.

Regards
Sanjeev
