The painless way to build a 125×125 banner ad

26 September 2008 43 views No Comment

For those of you who maintain your own websites/blogs and have wondered how to get the code for a banner ad, here is a 5-step “how-to” guide…

This is the result of a couple of hours of diligent (and somewhat frustrating) work…but I would like to spare everyone else the trouble :-)

***

Step 1: Add a “text widget” to your sidebar (assuming a wordpress theme)

Step 2: Choose a suitable title for your widget (e.g. “Partners” or “Sponsors”)

Step 3: Copy the following code in your widget:

<a href=”WEBSITE WHERE YOU WANT TO LINK THE IMAGE” rel=”alternate”><img border=”EITHER 0 OR SOME NUMBER TO SHOW A BORDER” src=”LOCATION OF THE IMAGE FILE IN YOUR DIRECTORY” width=”SIZE” height=”SIZE” alt=”"></a>

Step4: Substitute all the stuff in capital letters by suitable replacements

Step5: Thats it. Now sit back and watch the dollars flow in your bank account…well, the last bit may take a while :-)

P.S. Thanks to rich for inspiration!
