On ill-chosen words and dumb remarks

By now, most of you must have read the story of the amazing comparison by our esteemed Home Minister:

In highly controversial remarks that could embarrass the UPA Government, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil has drawn a curious parallel between Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, an Indian in an Indian jail, and Sarabjit Singh, an Indian in a Pakistani jail. Calling for Afzal Guru’s death, he said, doesn’t go with demanding clemency for Sarbajit.

As Nitin points out on The Acorn:

India must be the only country in the world where the government finds ever more dubious reasons to prevent a convicted terrorist—guilty of planning an attack on the national parliament—from being punished according to the law.

Close on the heels of Sh Shivraj Patil’s remarks, comes this astounding statement by Hon. Sh Arjun Singh

“Only a person who is totally committed to the nation can make an attempt like Rajiv Gandhi did to bring murderers of his mother into the mainstream,” said the HRD minister.

Sandeep has done a neat job of dissecting this and pointed out how Arjun Singh-ji brands the entire Sikh community as murderers of Indira Gandhi  :-(

Shame on Arjun Singh…and shame on the Congress leadership for continuing to hob-nob with him.

Do these two gentleman deserve the power that they wield?
