Good News and Bad News – Part 2

First, the good news.

Last week Freedom Team released the first issue of its magazine with the following preface:

“…We all want a Great India. But why is there so much failure around us despite these good intentions? ……bad governance and bad policies have added up to make India a highy corrupt, poor nation…why should our governance be so bad?

We believe it is primarily because our best people do not enter politics. The Freedom Team has chosen to fix this problem. The Team will bring togther 1500 leaders…and  provide Indians with high qiuality candidates at elections. We all deserve to get our very best people into parlaiment.”

I would strongly encourage all of you to have a look and share your thoughts/ comments. (Disclosure: I am a member of Freedom Team)

If you have questions about the Team or its plans, you can ask them here. And as always, pl. feel free to leave a comment.

Personally, I find this effort hugely encouraging – especially in the context of resurgence in activities of LokSatta and many other similar outfits (see e.g. this report about Lok Paritran planning to contest elections in Karnataka)

Although this is a big step forward (and in the right direction), my optimism is laced with the reality of current day politics.

And I am not talking of India.

This brings me to the bad news:

A few weeks ago, I came across this article in TIME magazine that talks about the power of lobbyists in Washington and how even John McCain – who has a relatively *clean* and reformist image – is not immune from it.

John McCain has been in the news in past for exposing alleged corrupt practices by his peers in the Senate.. However, this is now proving to be a double-edged sword.

Bear in mind what is being discussed in the TIME article is happening in this day and age in a relatively mature and transparent democracy (i.e. the US of A)…and this is not an isolated, one off incident. Politics everywhere appears to have become enmeshed with big money, lobbyists, scandal and corruption.

I do not even need to mention what goes on in the corridors of power in Delhi…which brings me to the depressing thought that we can try as much as we can but it may be almost impossible to reform – of *fix* – the present system of politics and governance in India…certainly not within the next 10 or even 20 years.

Where does that leave the “Freedom Team” and other similar efforts?

I am not sure I know the answer…but I would like to ask this question of all my readers, of all the members of Freedom Team and anyone and everyone who has ever wondered about the sad state off affairs in India – especially its political  system and governance.

Baalu admits to taking favour for family firms

“…Shipping and surface transport minister T R Baalu told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that there was nothing wrong if he had requested the Union petroleum minister to provide gas to a company of which he was the managing director in the past and with which his sons and their wives are currently associated…”

While some would admire the (rare) frankness and “honesty” of confessing to such an act, it raises a larger question around ethics, trust and abuse of authority…

Sadly, I doubt if anyone is going to even bother thinking about such things…

    Shantanu,

I didn’t understand the relevance of BJP here. You look to be an ardent supporter of the party. So, how does it really matter for others ?

  3. B Shantanu says:

    Praada: Sorry..I missed your comment.

I am not an ardent supporter of BJP…but I am an ardent supporter of some of their policies.

When it comes to vote bank politics (or playing the caste card), they are probably no better or worse than others.

Lok Paritran Karnataka President Naganna removed after attacks on the National Committee
Submitted by admin on Mon, 05/12/2008 – 15:28. Announcement Karnataka
B.T. Naganna, who was the Karnataka State President, has been removed from all positions in the Party after he attacked the National General Secretary, Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit, on Saturday, the 10th of May. Police complaints have been filed against Naganna and a press conference was held today to make the announcement public.
Founder and National President, Shri. Chandrashekhar, announced that certain facts had recently come to light about B.T. Naganna, the Karnataka State President of Lok Paritran, which cast doubt on the suitability of his presidency. It has been brought to our notice that Naganna has been misreporting his educational qualification, and is not the holder of a B.E. degree as he claims, since he left before completion of the degree. Further and more significantly, Naganna has been allegedly implicated in the murder of two men. Naganna was faced with the charges and not being able to provide adequate explanation, was stripped of his post in the Party on Saturday, the 10th of May. In response he violently attacked the National General Secretary, Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit, that very night and threatened to kill him. He hurled a large stone at Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit at his head at close range, which Shri. Rajpurohit fortunately managed to dodge. The next morning, even as police reports were being filed about the above incident, Naganna attacked the National Legal Advisor Shri. Srikant Chakravarti’s residence with around 15 goons. He tried to force entry into the house, and threatened Shri. Chakravarti’s parents that he would shatter Shri. Chakravarti’s bones if he was found anywhere near his home.
The National General Secretary Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit said, “Naganna has filed a false complaint with the police that Lok Paritran has demanded Rs. 6 lakhs from every candidate who participated in the election on our ticket. He threatened Shri. Nalin Jain, the Lok Paritran candidate from Gandhinagar, and said that he would burn his office down if Shri. Nalin Jain did not admit to the allegations. He has also issued other threats to some other candidates of the Party. Considering Naganna’s behavior after he was removed from the Presidency the doubts raised about his background do not seem to be unfounded.
Shri. Chandrashekhar said, “Lok Paritran is a Party that has espoused honesty and transparency right from its inception, and the National Committee feels that such a person should not be allowed to continue not only as the State President but also as a primary member of the Party.” Police complaints have been filed, and the National President made the following announcements:

B.T. Naganna is herewith removed from all positions in the Party
The Karnataka State Committee is suspended until further notice.

We will update you as further developments happen.

  5. Other side of story says:

Dear Members, our supporters and all of you who have voted for our candidates in the polls on May 10th….

The founders of Lok Paritran, who form the National Committee, held a PressConference on Monday and made allegations on Mr. B.T.Naganna. Almost all the newspapers have carried the details of this press note in their editions on Tuesday and the same has also been put up on the website of the party.

Mr. B.T.Naganna was our State President until he was removed from the post yesterday as per the announcement in the Press Conference. He was also our candidate from KRPuram constituency.

*All the allegations made by the National committee are baseless and totally false.
*We are now in the process of filing our case on the founders for defamation and damages. The details will be made available to all of you as soon as we actually file the case in the court of law.

The charge that Mr. Naganna attacked Tanmay is also false – in fact, Tanmay and his team organised a pre-meditated attack on Naganna at around 9.30pm on the 10th evening, after we all dispersed from the Press Club around 8.30pm.

The reason for the attack on Naganna is extremely shocking and shameful – but we want all our people to know the truth, however bitter it may be….

About 10 days ago, when all our candidates had started their Election campaigns in full earnest, the National General Secretary, Tanmay Rajpurohit, asked two of our candidates to adjust about Rs. 6 lakhs to 7 lakhs of expenses on behalf of candidates from one of the largest National political party. Both our candidates refused to do so.

Tanmay’s reasoning for this was that as none of our candidates were going to show more than Rs. 2 lakhs as the poll expenses, this would be very `helpful’ to our party.

This matter was discussed between a few select members and other candidates and was decided that we would refuse to do this `adjustment’ and that the National committee would be confronted with this issue immediately after the polling.

Tanmay and their team were also pressurizing our (ex) State Treasurer – Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, to submit the State unit’s accounts on the 5th of May itself. He said it would not be possible because of lack of time and when he demanded to see the accounts of the National unit, his request was refused by Tanmay saying that he had no right to scrutinize their accounts.

Thereafter, on the night of May 5th, around 1am, Tanmay and his team along with about 15 others came in 3 vehicles to his house and started banging on the gate of his house. Fearing that some untoward incident may happen, he did not venture out and called the police. Tanmay and his team left the premises before the police arrived. However, a formal complaint was not lodged as this could be extremely embarrassing for our candidates if this news leaked out to the press while the actual polling date was just 5 days away.

All candidates and core members were supposed to meet in the party office at 6pm on 10th evening after the polling concluded and take the National team to task on the above and many other such matters like a) they never joined any candidates’ campaigns even though they had supposedly more than 15 party members who had come down from Delhi/Rajasthan to help the candidates, b) there was absolutely no help in terms of funds for the State unit or the candidates, c) they were creating more problems for the candidates than helping them out by calling them for meetings at odd hours and places etc.

However, because of a bogus voting issue in one booth of one of our candidates, we all had to rush to the Chief Election Commissioner’s office where we joined the press conference in progress and then lodged our formal complaint on the bogus voting problem. Thereafter, all of us present had various discussions with the media and then dispersed around 8.30pm. A few minutes after Naganna left, Tanmay called him on his mobile and told him they wanted to have a personal discussion with him and agreed to meet near TGI Friday on Airport Road. All of them met for some time and Chandrashekhar, the National President, then asked Naganna to instruct all the candidates to ‘adjust’ Rs. 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs for another party’s candidates in our poll expenses. Naganna refused to do so and walked away.
Just as he got into his van, 4 men dressed in black, wearing black helmets with dark visors attacked him from both sides. A baseball bat was shoved in from one window which bruised Naganna in the face – but he was quick to grab the bat, get out from the other side and chase one of them with the bat. In the skirmish that followed, Naganna sustained injuries on his hands and legs also – but the thugs managed to escape in an old blue Maruti van. Tanmay & co were spotted watching all this and then they rushed to get into an auto and vanish.

When we all joined forces in the morning on Sunday and went to the Police Station to lodge a complaint, we found Tanmay & co also in the same Police station lodging a complaint on us ! Thereafter, we discovered that they had also lodged another complaint in another Police station on the events of the previous night claiming that Naganna had attacked Tanmay. And on Monday we got the news that they had conducted a press conference where they accused Naganna of various things and that the State committee has been dissolved.

In view of all these events, many statements made by Tanmay and Chandrashekhar, during the last so many meetings and even just before the nominations were filed, assume a different significance now. Remarks like ‘it is very easy to get money during elections’, ‘just pay 5000 for the nomination deposit and the rest will automatically come to you’, ‘adjusting 5 or 10 lakhs (rupees) is not a big thing during elections’ etc. etc. The fact that during the Elections in Gujarat, while the campaigns were in full swing in Gujarat, the whole team flew in from Ahmedabad to Bangalore for 2 days just to meet us and were found having a party at the Leela Palace !

May be this was due to some ‘adjustment’ ?

It is now quite obvious to us that these founders of Lok Paritran have always had these intentions of making money during the elections as the primary purpose and all that ideology etc is just eyewash.
We always felt, that, even though the founders had a horrible dress sense, were quite often rude and rough with members – we felt this was due to immaturity and that they would learn in the course of time – but we never doubted their integrity and morals. Alas, we have been proved wrong.
However, every single active member of our Bangalore unit as well as all the candidates (except Nalin Jain who contested from Gandhinagar constituency, who happens to be Tanmay’s close associate) have expressed their solidarity with Naganna and the state committee. Those of you who know us personally or have met us will know who is speaking the truth.

*We assure you all that all of us in the State committee, District committee and all the 10 candidates have been true to the ideology of Lok Paritran, are non-corrupt, are transparent in our actions and accountable for our actions totally – and will continue to be so.

    * Some other facts that you all should be aware of :
Tanmay and Chandrashekhar are own brothers – but Chandrashekhar never writes Rajpurohit after his name (probably to hide this fact)
Dheeraj Kumar who is on the national committee is a cousin of Tanmay.
Santanagopalan and Srikant Chakravarti – who are also on the National committee are cousins of Tanmay.
So, the national committee is a family affair now.
(That is transparency for all of us !)

The three or four of the other founders who were with Tanmay when the party was founded have all left (or were forced to leave).

None of the National team answers their phones on Tuesday !!! (Seriously, we are not joking) – they did not want any of the candidates to file their nominations on Tuesday this time in Bangalore – but some did anyway. (May be they don’t teach about superstitions in IIT ?)

*What next for all of us and Lok Paritran ? *
We have decided to wait till the announcement of the poll results on May 25th before taking a final decision.
We feel this is not the end of it as the National committee has some more dirty tricks in their bag and will try and do some more damage to us in the next 10-15 days – but we will show them that they cannot get away with it anymore.

Many many sincere thanks to all of you who have supported us in our endeavors and efforts in these last 2 years. We will continue to strive for good governance and removal of corruption – and we hope your support is there for us too….

By the (ex) State Committee, (ex) District committee and our 10 candidates.

This is very unfortunate but people across the country are very happy that LP’s (Looser Party) president Chandrashekar, GS Tanmay and Shantagopalan finally got bitten in karnataka. leagal advisor Srikant Chakravarti managed to disappear with the 4 gundas hired for Naganna. This was suppose to happen in Lucnow or Mumbai but they managed to escape.

Now see who is with LP

Tamilnadu – No one. LP’s founder misbehave with them and they all are in the process of merging with BPD (Bharat punarnirman dal).

Andharapradesh – No One. They are already with BPD.

Karnataka – Only one and that is Nalin Jain. I don’t think people of karnataka will give any value to a Rajsthani.

Delhi – Sharma was taking care of Delhi unit but LP’s founders abused him and he left the party with Delhi unit.

Gujrat – No one. Molik Bhatt (LP Candidate from Maninagar) got bitten by LP’s founders and he is no more with LP.

UP – None. Two Candidates fought Assembly election under lok paritran banner but now athey are not with LP but BPD. They are finished in UP.

Maharastra – All joined BPD. No base at all for LP.

Finally, all are happy with the news that LP founders got bitten badly in Karnataka and in the process of forming another group or joining with BPD.

List of members in Lok Paritran
    —————————————
    1. Chandrashekar Rajpurohit – President
    2. Tanmay Rajpurohit – General Secretary.
    3. Shantagopalan – No post. Can say Spoon of above two.
    4. Shrikant Chakravarthy – Leagal advisor.
    5. Nalin Jain – Another Spoon who contested Karnataka assembly election.

All the best to LP. Please think twice before joining Looser Party (LP).

    Dear Sir,
I thought that LP was a better party than the others… with all of those from IITs and IIMs founding a party, I definitely thought that it would do some thing good to the country and its people. But looking at this fight i dont think that you are any different from the other parties. Good that less people know about your party and hence less number are fooled by your dedication towards politics and that towards the country.
Thanking you and hoping that you dont even win a single seat in the current elections (because u dont deserve to win any).
And by the way i know that this comment will not be moderated as it is against LP….

In fact this chain of comments was started by Prassana (who I presume is still from Lok Paritran) and if I get another comment – giving their side of the story, I will be happy to publish it as well.

The important thing is for everyone to know what is going on – people can then make their own judgements.

All these days i did not have any interest in LP because i was tooo sceptical about this party from beggining..
But now i must tell the Karnataka LP party that you guys must carry out what you had come to achieve…To eradicate corruption !!… this time i will be in full support towards the ex state party for thier activities because i have seen and spoke to the state party team personally.. they are men of honour who are really into a noble cause of eradicating corruption leaving all thier personal work…

    Dear all,
    Just one clarification :
Professionals in Bangalore who were ‘supporting’ or ‘campaigning’ for LP was actually doing it because of some of the candidates who have good credibility in Bangalore. LP just happened to be the platform on which they were contesting. The party was immaterial.
We would have even campaigned for them if they had contested on the Congress symbol, because we felt that we needed some different from other regular politicians.
In fact I heard about LP only from one of the candidates who invited me to join them.
I would be only glad to work these people (the 10 candidates) because of their credibility and determination to create a difference to politics.

  13. Jai Hind says:

Politics is to add the people and not to remove them. I have seen that n number of people joined LP but disappeared due to the behavior of LP’s founders. Now take example of Naganna (Ex Karnataka state president), He has done more work for LP than the founders. He is even more known in the public. Now LP’s founders are blaming that he is not a Graduate. Even if he is not then is LP is giving him job?? Is it written in LP constitution that only Graduate can hold post of President? Due to Nagana only LP exists in Karnatka and not due to LP’s founders. Why they didn’t check his certificate at the time of giving him president post? No one was taker of LP in Karnataka and today also no one is there to take care of LP in Karnataka. Through mail I came to know that all are supporting Naganna and no one is contacting LP’s founders. From LP’s founders only I heard about the murder case pending against Naganna. I just wanted to tell LP’s founder that if Indian law doesn’t have any issue with Naganna then why you are bothering. You should provide proof also other wise some day you may also get same changes by others. Respect others to get respect.

through mail only I came to know that all the candidate have put their hard earned money and didn’t get even a single coins from LP’s founder as they promised. Most of the candidates are in depth of 50K to 75K. This is due to false promises by LP’s founders. I just wanted to tell you that all the members in Karnataka state unit including the entire candidate are very much true because they are not politician and they are as pure as any thing.

LP Karnataka members are shocked but their moral is very high. They will be keeping continuing their work but not under LP banners.

Its very unfortunate to see the things turning up this way. I was devasted after hearing all about LP. It was the only party that I had a hope in. But it seems its not different than other parties. When I first met Tanmay in bangalore, in no way he sounded like a leader. He sounded more arogant and not listening to audiences. Even did not gave respect to elderly persons. How one can lead anybody without having this basic principle in life. Still this party made significant progress in Bangalore within short span of time, all the credit goes obviously to the disolved state committee. I owe my full support to the state unit. I remember a famous dialogue from film SARKAR ” taakat logonko jodane se milati hai, todane se nahi”..

  16. Sneha says:

joined the party in the first place with hopes of seeing a better future for our society. All the volleys of accusations going around leaves a bad taste! However going on the work and dedication level, Bangalore LP has been doing a commendable job in comparison with the LP in other states or even the National party. From the interaction i have had with the members of the State party including Mr. Naganna when working with them for LP i know that they are men of integrity. I will any day back the state party. However th parties future is bleak.

What a shame on Tanmay and chandrashekar, on the day i first met Tanmay, it was a press conference, he was so rude and carefree to the reporters, he did not even answer as a common man does, when this part was discussed when we met in the office later, Tanmay told some bull shit stories and said the reporters to do not be taken seriously. That day i did not understand his stand and now i do. I personally know how Mr Naganna, shashi, Ajit and team had worked hard for the cause of good governance and up against corruption. But shamefully the national team is comprised with such an anti-national elements. Naganna I am with you with full force.

  19. Raj says:

Its been a long time i am exprssing my views.I joind the party for the same reasons as of myfellow members.Initially I though that this party is going to change things with the kind of mission and vision it came up with and the way is started here in bangalore. But I just kept aloof for sometime just to wait and watch as I anticip[atyed somethig this this but definitely not so fast. They way we started working from the grassroot level with the superb decication form each and every core member was really commendable. When I met with the national team for the very first time I was quite disappointed as they were not integrated at all.The benifit that they had was operating from the national level.with units at various state.I wish thaey could have capitalised on this and would have made a strong base. But things went down the other way.Now the only option I see for the members of LP at bangalore either to join with another party to venture in politics or just set up another group with somethibg catchy that people will digest. The main attraction of LP was IIT and IIM now as that banner is removed i believe the only options are either to get someone from those institutions (impossible task) or keep working like NGO’s assisting people and gain populariy and trust of public and then contest in elections to gain a strong base and further work to the goal(removing corruption).I only wish all the luck to all members for all future endeavours and be be carefull about taking any steps forward.

  20. Jai Hind says:

    Hi,
I have doubt whether LP’s founders are really from IIT. They don’t know LP’s constitution also. They think that any state unit/Office can be started any time and dissolve any time. There is certain procedure for this. As per the constitution, national committee have to sent notice to the state unit and seek clarification of the issue and I have come to know that they have not done so far but they have announced in the media. They also think that LP is their parental property. Dear founders, the day party is registered with election commission its public property and not yours own.

Today I came to know from website that a new office has been opened to do the business.

    ************
Lok Paritran is happy to announce a new and improved office in Karnataka. The Karnataka State office will be located in Bangalore and is open for business. The contact information is given below.
    157, 12th Main, Nagendra Block, Bangalore – 560 050
Opposite Aiyappa Temple on 50 Ft Road
    Contact #: 94489 85711
    ***********************
I am confused whether they have opened the office to do the business or server the society. No No, its for the business what they did this time. In another 3 months there are possibility of Corporation election and later Parliamentary election and they can do better business.
As per the Raj comments, LP (desolved) should merge with another party or create a new organization. I feel this is very easy because what ever name LP have got due to Karnata State unit and not due to LP’s founders. As all are together they can set the things right very quickly but here question is what will happen if LP founders will continue in LP. They will be keep doing business on the name of IIT, keep shitting here and there so its better to finish them (Remove them from LP)politically so that in future they will not dare to open even NGO also.

I believe Karntaka unit has a support of all the state units and together they will create history.

  21. Cdr. (REtd) BB KHIlari says:

    Dear all,
Greetings! I am Cdr. (Retd) BB Khilari from Bangalore, who has contested the Assembly elections from Lok Paritran and awaiting results on 25 May 08. At the outset, I would like to inform you in right earnestness that you all are being totally ill-informed and mis-guided about Karnataka LP party by Tanmay Raj Purohit and his brother Chandrashekhar through LP website.

You all may be surprised to know that if at all LP party noticeably exists in the country, it is the Karnataka unit, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Mr. BT Naganna, the erstwhile State President and Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, the Treasurer, who have been sweating it out for over two and a quarter years to spread the message of LP, without any recognisable support from the so-called National Committee of LP headed by the two brothers mentioned above.

I only joined about six months ago, highly impressed by the ideology and vision portrayed by the party, and contributed my bit in its growth. However, you shall all be surprised to know that none of the National Committee members have helped any of the 11 candidates in the campaigning process even on a single day. Instead they were busy contacting the candidates one by one to adjust the poll expenses of Congress candidates into their accounts as the maximum expenditure of LP candidates was around 2 to 2.5 lakhs against the CEC allowed limit of 10 lakhs. The basic aim seems to have been to convert black money of the Congress candidates into white for their own self-aggrandisement.

When I got the wind of this and when Tanmay Purohit and Chandrashekhar wanted to visit me alone at my residence, I refused and asked them to arrange a formal meeting at the party Hqs. Since none of the candidates, except perhaps, one, Nalin Jain, presumably their relative, and an unfit LP candidate projected by the National team, agreed to their nefarious demands, on 10th May, they invited Mr. Naganna, for a personal discussion at about 8.45 pm. and after the discussions, where in Mr. Naganna refused to influence any of the candidates accounts or make adjustments in the State accounts, and when Mr. Naganna was about to leave by his car he was attacked by three masked men from a car immediately behind his car with sticks and base ball bats. Naganna somehow managed to chase them away and went home and informed Mr. Shashidhar and others of the party (I have a message received at about 10.21 pm stating Naganna attacked by Tanmay and gang, be careful, saved in my mobile). The conspirators then went and lodged a complaint with police that Naganna had attacked them. However, Mr. Naganna, keepiung in mind, the reputation of the party had discussion with many a party members and candidates next morning and filed a complaint of assault in the evening.

In the mean time on that day Chandrashekhar and Tanmay addressed a press conference ( all pre-planned, as you have to book in advance) to state that Mr. Naganna has been dismissed and the State unit of Lp has been dissolved, by slapping totally false and baseless charges against Naganna, an act which is also utterly illegal as no prior notice had been issued nor the National council meeting had been convened to take such a decision. Surprisingly, yesterday, when the state committee was holding its meeting from 1600 hours and extended upto 2000 hours Mr. Nalin Jain, in collusion with Tanmay and Chandrashekhar, lodged a complaint in a remote police station at about 1830 hours that Mr. Naganna, Mr. Shashidhar and Mr. Anuj Mishra, a candidate, along with 10 heavily armed goondas attacked him at his office and demanded Rs. six lakhs and to withdraw the complaint lodged by Tanmay against Naganna. I, along with others went to the Police station today and have told the Inspector that this complaint was absolutely false as all the 3 members accused were in a meeting with us the previous day at the alleged time of attack.

The police have also confirmed that no one visited Nalin Jain’s office as alleged and are taking suitable action. I would like to inform you people that 10 candidates, including Naganna and myself, who contested the elections really sweated it out against corruption, in-efficiency and in-competency in governance and apathy of the administrative machinery towards citizens’ problems with un-imaginable sincerity and dedication and that too in our pre-decided limited budgets, which was appreciated alround. The acts of the National committee of LP came as a surprising blow to all of us and has done considerable damage in the eyes of the public. We have learnt with fgeat pains that these conspirators and the so called founders of LP have done similar acts in Tamil Nadu, UP, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Gujrat and have not promoted the cause for LP’s growth , but were mis-guiding every one , including those who are funding from abroad.

Please convey this trurth to all those who you know and expose these mis-guided youths, who are younger to my children, and help me in pursuing my fight against corruption which is the original aim of this party.

Dear JaiHind1, Rajeev, Sumanth, JaiHind, MGM, Sneha, Dnyanesh, Sridhar, Raj and Cdr Khilari: Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and comments.

This is a very sad episode and does nothing at all to build trust in efforts to cleanse and reform the system.

I hope other new outfits (like BPD, Loksatta) etc avoid this kind of infighting and ugly politics…

    We need change – now.

  23. Jai Hind says:

    Dear Shantanu,
I am with you. What I feel that all the fights are going on which is good because it helps to filter the people and things. Even if this is not good for LP but for other like BPD, Lok Satta etc, will help to improve the things. I heard that Lok Paritran got more than 30000 vote in Tamilnadu assembly election 2 years ago. Later I came to know that Ajit Shukla (now BPD founder) was behind the success because there also Tanmay created huge problem but some how Ajit managed it. I also came to know that the day when Ajit Shukla came out from Lok Paritran, it started dieing slowly and as a result LP was able to file only two candidates and each got around 150 votes. In Gujrat only one candidate even if entire LP national team was in Gujrat for more than two months. There also some how they managed to get around 125 Votes. In Karnata LP managed to get 11 candidate and this credit goes to Karnata State Prisident Sri Nagana and not to the LP founders.

LP founders are very rude and they never answer any question properly. If they don’t know they will answer some thing else and when you ask they will tell you, you don’t have that much maturity to understand and it will take time to understand it. So many LP members have complained about it.

I feel if LP founders don’t change their attitude they will finish soon and even getting job for 4th grade will be difficult for them. Any way 99% they are finished.

    Jai Hind

  24. Cdr. (Retd) BB KHIlari says:

    Dear Shantanu,

Thank you for your kind comments. Through this forum I would like to state that if Tanamy Rajpurhit and Chandrashekhar really belong to the highly respected Alumni of the IIT’ians and honour them, they should come forward and accept their folly and gracefully resign from the primary membership of the party along with all the members of the National executive committee of LP.If they do so, as an elderly person of the party, I shall pardon them for all their mis-endeavors so far, and assure them that no member of the party or any Bangalorean, there are lakhs of them who appreciated our efforts, shall cause any harm to them when they are repenting thus in front of the press. I shall also make best efforts to see that legal actions initiated against them so far are also dealt with leniently. This will ensure restoration of public faith in LP for the purpose for which it was launched and all the breakaway groups, abandoned groups/individuals of earsttwhile LP as well as other smaller groups/parties with similar ideology and vision can all join together to form a strong united national force to transform politics and Governance in our country. I know that it is a “TALL” demand; but the time to think thus is “Right Now” and if everyone associated with this page thinks deeply and responds, we would have contributed immensely to the dreams of all of us, including Mr. Sanjeev Sabhlok, who may not have to wait too long to genuinely form his team of 1500 capable volunteers of freedom movement..

If they do not come forward for repentance and act as I have suggested, I can only say that that they shall be ruining their lives at such an young age, as truth alone shall triumph over all mis-deeds. We shall also miss a Golden opportunity to unite all like-minded groups to form a united national force to transform India; and, further, the IIT Alumni may permanently have a black mark on its credibility vis-a-vis values and ethics in life just because of these individuals. I request all bloggers, friends and others who were quite concerned about the future of LP and such other outfits to think and see positively in this manner and by the grace of God and our collective thought and action we shall succeed.

    Warm Regards,

There are many complaints and greveinces against lok paritran and its tanmay rajpurohit and chandrasekar but this is a big expose…

Its hard to understand that while these people claimed to be honest , why they have demanded lakhs of Rupees ?

They claimed to be transparent , why they have hidden that Tanmay and Chandrasekar are real brothers ?

They always spoke that they will eradicate the corruption and why they themselves are fully involved in corruption and illegal transactions ?

In public they use to wear khadi kurta and preached simplicity..and they are caught red handed while enjoying parties in hotel leela palace..

They gave example of gandhi and non voilence during elections in gujrat and they are using voilence as means to silence their own people..

Once they said that democracy is the best way and It seems that there is no democracy in their own party as they have expelled whole state commmitee..even without giving explaination…

lets imagine Naganna is not educated so what ? why all other are expelled..

People like mr.alabur , comander khilari are reputed people in their areas..

please come up with the truth…otherwise people of India will never forgive..

its very common that opponents attacks the emerging party but what is the reasons behind attacks on lok paritrana Tanmay & Chandrashekar by the members of lok paritrana ? something is deeply wrong .
They were attacked in their home rajastan , they were opposed in tamilnadu by their own state committe members , one of the key founder of lok paritrana ajit shukla ( who was behind the huge success of paritrana in Tamilnadu) was also forced to leave the party and Gujarat drama and now this drama in K’nataka..

Any inside stories from other states..

    can someone check their reality..

    they have disappointed us all..

  27. Rohit says:

lok paritran and tanmay has been exposed long back
it is just repeated confirmation of the fact that they are not what they pretent to be. Their appearances are masks to hide their reality. My cousin was with them in IIT Mumbai ,he told that several police cases are pending against tanmay in various police stations in diff. states..

lets support the lok satta or bharat udai mission.

  28. gaurang says:

It seems that naganna and Cdr BB khilari are telling truth but by their cunning tactics tanmay and company preplanned the drama well in advanced and made the victims look like attackers in public..

why ex-members of lok paritran expose these fake IITians and save many youth from their clutches..

  29. Sudhakar says:

I am totally surprised and shocked to read this..

As lok paritran is exposed now ..tanmay must adress press conference and admit his crimes and ask for forgiveness from all those whom he has offended in tamilnadu , UP, goa ,gujarat , delhi and karanataka..

we should make efforts to make them realise their mistakes,.

  30. B Shantanu says:

Cdr Khilari, Vignesh, Geeta, Rohit, Gaurang, Sudhakar: Thanks for your comments..

I must say I am pleasantly suprised (and somewhat overwhelmed) by the level of interest this incident has generated. It suggests to me (as Cdr Khilari has also mentioned) that the time for change may finally be near.

To all of you who are new to this site, I hope to see you more often here and I hope that you will participate and contribute in the discussions…

Bringing about change is a slow and sometimes frustrating experience but we must not give up…

Even though many of you may be constrained in what you can do at this stage, I would say, do not give up the ultimate goal – that of a BETTER India – we deserve it and we owe it to all the martyrs and leaders who fought for our hard-earned independence.

It is time for the second freedom movement – time for change.

    *** COMMENT COMBINED ***

From No revenge of the nerds

When IITians dive into the murky waters of politics, we expect the halo to keep lighting the way. We expect that these youngsters with glowing grey cells will show that it is possible for ordinary, intelligent people to survive in politics. Perhaps because of this expectation, it is disheartening to see their political party split even before it has learned to stand firmly on its own two feet.

Lok Paritran – the party started in 2006 by six alumni of IIT-Powai and IIT-Kanpur – has for some time had a splinter group called Bharat Punarnirman Dal (BPD). Neither mother party nor splinter shies away from some old-fashioned mudslinging. “Ravi Kishore, vice-president of BPD passed out of IIT after a number of attempts,” says Tanmay Rajyaguru, national president of Lok Paritran. “We don’t expect them to understand our vision.” Ravi Kishore counters that the extra years were because he had taken a break from his studies during the dotcom boom and returned to campus later. Moreover, he says, he can’t be called a splinter since he never was an officer-bearer in LP in the first place, having turned down the post of Lok Paritran’s Andhra Pradesh state president because he did not see eye to eye with the rest.

In their twenties both, neither Tanmay nor Kishore fits the stereotype of IITian or politician. They complement their boyish looks and thin moustaches with baggy green fatigues and sneakers. During the recent Gujarat election, Tanmay moved around in an old rickety jeep that seemed to have bounced straight out of World War II. Kishore looks more like the businessman that he is, running coaching centres in five cities.

Lok Paritran first contested the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in May 2006 on seven seats in Chennai. They did not win a single seat but two of their candidates finished third, garnering nearly six per cent of the vote. This was seen as impressive for a party four months old and without free TVs and rice at its disposal. Immediately after the results, however, four of the seven said they did not wish to be part of the group. There were angry accusations of favouritism, and of all things, lack of transparency.

Both BPD and LP then decided to partipate in the Gujarat election only to find that there was nothing but quicksand in Modi land. BPD initially wanted to contest at least 10 seats but backed out completely at the last minute. Kishore says they did not find a single candidate who “shared our vision”. BPD is now focusing on the Delhi elections, has rented an office there and hopes to make a dent in the seat of Indian power.

Lok Paritran was more ambitious in Gujarat. It started out wanting to contest 40 seats, many of them in Saurashtra. In the end they put up only one candidate in the hotbed of Maninagar, the veritable Amethi of Gujarat given that Chief Minister Narendra Modi was taking on Union Minister of State for Petroleum Dinsha Patel there.

The LP candidate was a professional astrologer, Maulik Bhatt, who polled 267 votes. What was an astrologer doing in a party whose chiefs only believe in phenomena that can be proven in the controlled environment of a laboratory? Bhatt claims to have predicted Italy’s World Cup win, the tsunami and the Gujarat floods. The 28-year-old physics graduate says he was a non-believer until he started taking lessons in astrology. “Astrology is a knowledge system above pure science,” he says. “In fact, the higher you go in life, the higher the stakes and so you want to keep an eye on the future.” However, the party website does not mention his astrologer status preferring instead to say that he is a student of “Indian history and science”.

Ironically, both groups are trying hard to shake off the IIT tag. They are acutely aware that the IIT name can pull both ways. If it can lift you above the run-of-the-mill politician it can also drag you down if word gets out that that IITians are mere human, no different from the rest. They want to carefully unpin the halo themselves instead of public perception tearing it off their heads.

“When you brand us as a party of IITians, many good people are reluctant to join us,” says Kishore. “They assume that only IITians can become members or that the top posts would go to them.”

Perhaps, as part of the de-branding, they could consider rewriting their official website, which at present, is full of terrifying lines like: “Society is an aggregate of continuum of all kind of possibilities of human being.

    From Rise of Yuva

GENERATION AWAKENS: (From left) Shukla, Rajpurohit and Chandrashekar are determined to correct the system

A few disgruntled youth decide to take it upon themselves to straighten the flaws of the Indian political system and stem the spreading rot. The plot of Yuva? Not quite. It’s the Lok Paritran (LP), a political party started by a group of under-30s. “But that does not mean it is a party only for the young,” clarifies Ajit Shukla, national working committee member and treasurer of the party. Founded by Tanmay Rajpurohit, an IIT graduate who returned from the US to work in rural Rajasthan, in Jodhpur, the LP has acquired the status of a national party in less than six months, thanks to its foray into the south with the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu this May.

None of the six candidates fielded by the party won, but they put up tough competition. In Mylapur the LP candidate came third and together, the candidates polled more than 35,000 votes. Door-to-door campaigning, blogs, community-run websites, SMS and chain emails did the trick for the party, which caught the imagination of educated youth. “The apathy towards electoral procedures is due to the rotten political structure. When people are made to choose the lesser evil, they prefer not to choose at all,” says Shukla. The LP is a party of highly educated individuals, a lot of them, like Vice-President Amit Beesen and Chandrashekar, are engineering graduates from the IITs. It may seem elitist, but it is also honest-everyone on the four-member committee has quit well-paying jobs to make this work.

Making a mark on the political scene is not easy and the party learnt it the hard way. In the second week of July, its office was attacked and the LP was warned to shut shop-a threat validating the party’s impact. Lack of resources is the biggest problem plaguing the LP today. Most members-there are 25,000 including online members-make contributions and all posts are honorary with no reimbursements.

The party has declared that it is anti-reservation and is, at the moment, focusing on the corporation elections in Chennai, Delhi and Bangalore in 2007, and Assembly elections in Goa and Delhi. “Everything has happened so soon that it’s a bonus,” says Rajpurohit. Will youth power prevail over a system steeped in corruption? The Lok Paritran may well have the answer.

Why they are sitting in Raj. and planning to get elected in southern states? and in future Gujarat?
Why founder had organized token health camp in Raj. why not in West Bengal, Tamil Naidu where there is a poverty.
They didn’t tried their luck in recent election in Bihar or West Bengal but interested in Gujarat. Why?
What they were doing after Tsumani?

@ What is the Truth: Good question and something that I am struggling with as well..

Many of you must have noticed that the comments here are overwhelmingly from Naganna supporters or others who have been disappointed with LP… That does not mean that they are false but I am somewhat surprised that no one – and I mean no one – from Lok Paritran has got in touch with me – or left a comment on this blog mentioning their side of the story.

This whole comment chain was started with a comment by Prassana (presumably from LP) on 13th May and the counter-comment on 15th May.

Unfortunately, Prasanna does not seem to have visited the blog after leaving his comment…

Over the next 1-2 days, I shall try and get in touch with the LP leadership to get their version of events.

I think we all would like to know the “truth” and what is really going on.

These kind of public insinuations and insults do not help anyone.

    Thanks for joining the discussion.

Youth Political Party led by IITians and educated India was brainchild of Shri Ajit Shukla and he tried hard to realise it and after tanmay took control of party , he first planned and forced ajit shukla to leave party so that no one questions his illegal and anti national ways of making money in name of IIT tag.

  42. Geeta Gokhale says:

    Hello Everyone,

I have been closely observing this.

For those who don’t know, I was part of core team LP Karnataka and then moved to Pune, and after the split, joined BPD.
When Tanmay came to Pune, he was living in my house for 4-5 days and we had many long discussions.
so I can share my version of truth.

While working in Bangalore, I read a lot of comments[negative] about Tanmay on various blogs, regarding his fanatic hinduism.I completely ignored that.
We were closely working with Ajit Shukla, who was quite decent, logical, inspirational leader. I personally assumed that Tanmay would be falling on the same grounds. when I met Tanmay, the picture was totally different.

    1. The first impression about him is always – arrogant, rude.
    2. He would refuse to answer any question saying that you have no right to ask anything as we have done so much sacrifice.
    3. He does not make effective use of time, I would rush to the meeting, leaving aside all imp office work and after spending 4-5 hours in discussion, I would realise that I have not got anything. Tanmay would be just playing around words and reciting some shlokas of Neetishatak.
    4. Tanmay always wanted to establish his own military which he has openly shared with me and many others. his idea was to take 200 youngsters to a farm and train them for 6 months and use them for whatever gundaism he wants to spread. and the same reflects in the photograph. he even has planned further details like uniforms etc..
    5. for the above reason, he did not want any women in his party and refused to acknowledge me and my commitment. I am writing this very carefully and I know what I am saying. but this is the truth.
    6. now the important question – money.. How would you arrange the funds? Tanmay would either avoid this question saying- paisa to aa jata hai. But I have witnessed him professing corruption and election adjustments. the reason he gave was, if you want to bring in a big change, you must do these small adjustments. But he would never explain what this big change is all about.
    7. After observing all this, I could not any more continue under his leadership, and natuarally joined BPD.
    8. Nobody expelled Ajit Shukla, Ajit himself went out and formed a new party, because he could foresee natural death to this party due to Tanmay’s behaviour.

I found Tanmay to be hypocritic, as does not come up clean with his ideologies and stands. his ideology documents are vague and superficial. On the same ground, he never promised us corruption- free, efficient government, its our interpretation of it.
people like you and me, who are honest and patriotic, derived this fact that some “IITians” coming up with such a stand must be honest and transparent. so its the problem of wrong expectation.
who pays them, its people like me who are saving a share of their earnings for a noble cause.

  43. Malikarjun says:

Still no reply from Founders of lok paritran ?

It seems they have no courage to face the truth and are hiding their faces in the same way they tried to hide that they both are brothers !

Inspite of trying and framing some false allegations against the bangalore team of lokparitarna , they should come forward and apologise publically in front of press and repent.

They were suspected from the beginning but the IIT tag saved them for these years now IITians have realised that these rogues are defaming the name of IIT and IIM , they have also distanced and disowned them.

spread the word so people will be aware of their nefarious designs and beat them out.

Even the so called prasanna is also no one but most probably tanmay or srikant writing disguised as prasanna to test waters & mood in karnataka after the attack episode. According to their mindset , it is easy to guess that they are still preparing something serious against Naganna and Alabur. They may also fake some evidences against the ex-members / committe members in bangalore and level some very serious charges againt them to defame them. their dirty mind is full of such tactics. they have done similar allegations against the candidates in chennai and also againt ajit shukla.
we need to unite and take action against them because only and only people like tanmay hard the nation more than anyone else because due to their anti social activities and fraud now youth has lost interest in social work , youth politics and other activities.
and I know all Naganna , Alabur and other members in Bangalore .

also what Geeta behan has said is also true. Tanmay always talks of making his personal army of goons so that he can rule the mumbai like mafia and make money and capture power for his bigger plan that no one knows..
Now we came to know his bigger plan . Just train some goondas and threaten own innocent partymen and force them to do illegal work during election and they make money for their night life and parties in hotel leela palace.

    shame on them.

they have betrayed the country and people.

I only remember Winston Churchill here-

A famous quote by Churchill in 1945 opposing the granting of Independence to India:

“Power will go into the hands of rascals, rogues and freebooters Not a bottle of water or a loaf of bread will escape taxation. Only the air will be free and the blood of these hungry millions will be on the head of Attlee. These are men of straw of whom no trace will be found after a few years. They will fight among themselves and India will be lost in political squabbles.”

  51. Geeta Gokhale says:

    Siva,

Well, I would repeat that, Tanmay in his speech never talks about Transparency. This is based on my interactions with him. His online documents dont make such claims. If Santhana made such statement, that holds no meaning to me. I have made similar promises on behalf of Lokparitran, when I was doing campaigns in Bangalore.

Coming back to the point, Tanmay does not have the courage to make it explicit in public… to be truthful. For Tanmay, existence is more important than principles. He openly claims that he has paid bribes to get LP registered. all in all I have wasted enough time here.and enough of this mudslinging.

By now I am completely disillusioned.I still dont know if this goal is really achievable through right means.

And I dont know any leader, whom I can really look upto as a National leader.

  52. Dear Geeta

I’m a bit lost with the details of this particular post, which started with the FTI’s first monthly magazine but touched upon a number of ground issues which I’m not familiar with. Either way, it is invaluable experience for all those participating in political team building. I must congratulate all those trying their best in their own way.

Do not be put off by Winston Churchill’s comment. That man’s children would tremble before India’s might (and goodness) had Nehru’s bad policies not destroyed us so badly. The problems of India are completely reversible.

Do not forget – we have one of the best private sectors in the world. The problem is exclusively in our governance – socialism and expecting services for free. Change the system, and India will transform like magic.

I also had a small comment to make re: your comment: “And I dont know any leader, whom I can really look upto as a National leader.” Well, the answer is obvious. Be that national leader. If you know what India lacks, then get up and lead. Don’t waste time looking for others. Leaders lead. Just do it, as they say.

    Regards
    Sanjeev

    LP state chief suspended
    Bangalore, dhns:
The Lok Paritran (LP) party has removed BT Naganna from the post of state president and suspended the Karnataka State Committee

The Lok Paritran (LP) party has removed BT Naganna from the post of state president and suspended the Karnataka State Committee. In a press note, National president Chandrashekhar and general secretary Tanmay Rajpurohit on Monday levelled some serious charges against Naganna. Commenting on the removal, Naganna alleged that there was a huge gap between the reality and claims made by the central leadership.

We should take this matter seriously and take some action immediately.
because Frauds like Tamnay and Sekar defame the cause of Nationalism and deceive Indian Society and that is the reason why Indians have lost hope in politicians , and result less than 50 % voting in bangalore and elsewhere

  55. Rajan says:

Inspite of good news bad news , the other heading can be ” Beware of Pseudo Patriots” or ” Lok paritran cadres against cheaters” or something similar.

You will see them selling tickets to candidates in forthcoming corporation elections and Loksabha polls. They have also opened new Office for business in bangalore. They are looking for some more scape goats in Kannadiga lands .One thing we must admire their talent to fool people and even their own supporters.

The news of Tanmay Rajpurohit and Chandrashekar came a bomb shell to me also..I am surprised that they have hidden that for so long.

even we met them in chennai in many meetings, they never speak about that LP is their family party with own brothers heading it and cousins like santhanagopalam , dhiraj , nailin and srikant as their deputies.

Now we should never involved this six guys in any of our honest efforts otherwise they will do fraud in our name and we will be defamed in the public eye and loose credibilty.

  56. Shashidhar Alabur says:

Shantanu – please keep this topic open as a lot more is going to happen and more postings will also be there.

The positive outcome of all these unfortunate incidents after May 10th is that – barring the set of 5 or 6 people who are with Tanmay – every one else from the current members, ex-members and our supporters are all with our Bangalore team and also that Tanmay and co have been finally exposed for what they are.

However, we know that Tanmay and co are still up to some more dirty tricks ! I know that Naganna and myself are their prime targets – I only hope they have the guts to attack us from the front and then stay and fight – and not attack from behind and then run away as they always do.

Saturday is their favorite day to try such dirty stuff – so may be we will have some more news tomorrow or on Monday.

We are waiting for the results after the counting is over and then take our decision after that.

  57. Rajamani says:

    Few facts

No body is with Tanmay & his five member gang.

There are thousands and many more ex-paritran members who are not aware of these realities but are already disappointed with these so called founders and left the party

IITians are not with them . Fellow IITians of Tanmay in Mumbai also have negative opinion about him

His anti social activities are not new , it is just the continium of the past

These guys have no conscious to decide what is right and what is wrong. They strongly believe that what they have done is right and rest all others are wrong.

They have ” we know everything attitude” and dont want to listen to anyone , not even to the top members of their party

They have some shady connections with mafia & goonda sort of people in Delhi and Mumbai

we have ex-paritran members oppose this attack on Mr.Naganna and Mr.Alabur.

We stand tall with the Bangalore Team.

  58. B Shantanu says:

All: I feel enough has been said about Tanmay and his team…I do not want this to become a personal witch-hunt.

I would encourage all of you to join the discussion here..

@ Shashidhar: The post wil remain open but I would really like us to move forward.

The incident(s) should not stop us from trying to achieve the larger goal – that of a better India.

  59. Shashidhar Alabur says:

    Thanks Shantanu.

I agree with you fully that we need to move forward and so, let us focus on the larger picture and do what we all need to do.

Our performance in the Karnataka State Assembly Elections are a huge disappointment – the only consolation being that like us even all the other Political parties (barring the big 3) were a wash out. The sentiment favoring a single party with a clear majority seems to have been so strong across the state that even BSP and JD(U) candidates have 3 digit vote counts in many constituencies !

So, let us start looking at what we need to do next !

Geeta and all concerned fellow Indians

As long as the goal is alive…keep working towards it and you will reach the goal one day…There are many national level leaders whom you can look up to… For one look at Dr jayaprakash Narayan from Lok satta movement who quit IAS in 1996 and started the movement towards good governance…(loksattamovement.org).

Lok satta party was launched in 2006 after realising that NGO has its limitations. It will contest all the elections in AP.

Please spread the word to your friends for them to join Lok satta party in andhra(I am saying andhra due to its strength in AP, elsewhere I leave it to you to consider) as it has a well respected leader, over 10 years of grassroot work, several achievements. infrastructure and organisation in all districts of AP and stands a good chance to make an impact in the coming state/gen elections.

    Hi,
Can any one tell whether Lok Paritran new office address is correct or wrong? Address exists (complete address is there in the LP web site) but its always locked. Are they meeting in night only or what? Even mobile number provided also looks bogus because no one pick the call.

When one of my friend visited LP karnataka, new address, owner started shouting and telling that I have asked to vacate the place because they have not informed us about using this place for political activity. 3 month rent is also pending and also Police have started visiting on daily basys so near by people have started complainig. They also warned my friend not to visit the place again.

There is some news that ex LP members (Bangalore) have started getting offers from various political parties.

    Let’s hope for the best.

  64. Prassana says:

In a new development to an already sordid tale of greed and corruption, the former treasurer of LP, Karnataka, Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, along with B.T. Naganna and co-conspirators, has been caught embezzling party funds. The National Committee, following Lok Paritran’s principles of zero tolerance, has called a Press conference which will be held on Monday in order to let the public know about this group’s nefarious activities. The following is an extract of the press release that is being circulated to the media from Lok Paritran.

Throwing light on the result of the investigations regarding the misdeeds of the ex-functionaries of the Karnataka State Committee, Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, the ex-State Treasurer, has been found, along with Mr. B.T. Naganna and other members, to be involved in corruption with regard to party funds. During his entire tenure Mr. Shashidhar Alabur kept postponing submission of party accounts. When pressurized during the election he flatly refused to give the account details to the National Committee. That group’s focus on funding rather than real issues and objectives of the party has always been felt, but in the culture of Lok Paritran they were given the flexibility of their own working methods. Permitting flexible functioning was taken as tolerance to corruption by these people but Lok Paritran, as always, adheres to the values of integrity and zero tolerance to corruption regardless of the cost. This group has also been found to be involved in working for the interest of other parties, using the Lok Paritran party platform for their selfish ends.

Soon the group, which consisted of Mr. Shashidhar Alabur and B.T. Naganna, along with other committee members, candidates they had brought into the party in order to swindle funds, as well as a few others who were brought during the elections, found that they could not continue their corrupt practices of money making. The unexpected removal of Mr. B.T. Naganna and the National Committee’s resolve of zero tolerance to corruption despite their attacks and threats made it impossible for the group to continue their nefarious activities. The last act of corruption against Lok Paritran by Mr. Shashidhar Alabur and B.T. Naganna was to clear the party’s account in an unconstitutional and unauthorised way. Mr. Shashidhar Alabur and B.T. Naganna withdrew 66,000/- from the Lok Paritran bank account at Vijaya Bank, Mayo hall branch in two transactions of 32,000/- and 34,000/- on 13th May, 2008. They did this even though B.T. Naganna was expelled from the party on 10th May, 2008 after he made an attempt to take the life of National General Secretary Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit (Airport police station, FIR no. 158/2008), and the rest of the Karnataka State Committee was suspended on 11th May, 2008 after finding their criminal involvement in attacking National Legal Advisor Srikant Chakravarti’s house (Jeevanbheema Nagar Police station FIR no. 142/2008). News of this expulsion and suspension was made public in a press conference held at the Press Club of Bangalore on 12th May, 2008, which was addressed by the National Working Committee. This news was carried by many publications including the Deccan Herald and the Indian Express on 13th May, 2008, the day when Mr. Shashidhar Alabur cleared out the Party account and took possession of all the party’s belongings. With these resources Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, along with other conspirators, then set out to form a new political outfit to continue their corrupt practices of money making by swindling public money in the name of providing corruption free, transparent and good governance.

Appropriate legal action against these corrupt conspirators is under process for this act of corruption.

With regard to Lok Paritran’s Karnataka unit, Shri Chandrashekhar announced new additions to the Karnataka State Committee formed under the State Presidency Mr. Nalin Kumar. Mr. Siddharth Rao, Major Deepak Iyer and Mr. P.K Shanbhag are welcomed as members of the Karnataka State Committee of Lok Paritran. Further candidates for the committee are being screened and interviewed.

The Party is getting an enthusiastic response from the people of Karnataka who now know Lok Paritran’s resolve to fight against corrupt and criminal elements. Our members have become more active and involved in our movement for a corruption free and efficient regime. The dedication and commitment of new spirit will be proved in the upcoming Corporation election, which the Party has decided to focus on to show that poor voting was due to the negative practices of corrupt people like Mr. Shashidhar Alabur and B.T. Naganna.

PRESS NOTE (17 Jun 2008 @ Bangalore Press Club)
Karnataka State Unit – Lok Paritran (Political Party)
Lok Paritran, Karnataka State Committee members and active members of Lok Paritran
would like to reveal the truth behind the unfortunate events that have taken place in
the last few weeks. The National Committee of Lok Paritran has been making several
damaging statements in the Press and on their website, which are a distorted version of
events. The truth is, unfortunately, very bitter and shocking!
We, Lok Paritran Karnataka State Committee members/active members, who have toiled
ceaselessly to bring the state unit to the current position as a well-recognized party in
Karnataka, put forward with utmost sadness the unfortunate developments at Lok Paritran.
The conduct of the National Committee members (Mr. Chandrashekhar, Mr. Tanmay
Rajpurohit and Mr. Santanagopalan) has greatly distressed us. Since the filing of nominations
of the candidates for the Phase 1 Assembly Elections, the National Committee members
have repeatedly strayed from the ideologies and objectives with which the Karnataka state
unit was formed. We have initiated legal action against them and are awaiting justice.
We are, however, concerned by the statements made by these imposters to the press and on
the party website. Character assassination of dedicated state members, who are striving to
reform politics in Karnataka, is harmful to our society.
We have detailed below the sequence of events over the last one month:
1st May: National President, Mr. Chandrashekhar Rajpurohit and National General Secretary,
Mr. Tanmay Rajpurohit asked the candidate from Hebbal constituency, Mr.
Chinnappa Gowda to adjust an amount of Rs. 6 lakhs in his election expense
account on behalf of a candidate from a major political party. This being against
election rules, Mr. Chinnappa, after consultations with us, refused to do so.
4th May: Mr. Tanmay asked Mr. Shashidhar Alabur (treasurer) for the Statement of accounts
of the state unit, saying that they needed to adjust an expense of around Rs. 10
lakhs. Mr. Shashidhar refused to do so suspecting foul play in light of the previous
incident. Thereafter, Tanmay Rajpurohit continued to harass him with phones calls.
5th May: Just after midnight, the National Committee, along with Mr. Nalin Jain (now
announced as new State President) and 15 people came to Mr. Shashidhar’s house.
They were not allowed to enter the premises, and police were called in case they
    tried to make trouble.
10th May:Mr. Tanmay called on Mr. Naganna, the Karnataka State President to meet him at
9:30 pm at the TGIF Building on Airport Road. During the meeting in which
Tanmay and Chandrashekhar, along with Srikant (Legal Advisor) and
Santanagopalan (Member, National Committee), were present, Mr. Naganna was
asked to instruct all the candidates to adjust an expense of around Rs. 6 Lakhs
each in their poll expenses and adjust around Rs. 10 lakhs in the state unit’s
accounts. Mr. Naganna flatly refused to do this and walked out.
As he got into his Maruti van, 4 people dressed in black T-shirts, black pants and
wearing dark black helmets attacked him with baseball bats and hockey sticks.
Mr. Naganna sustained injuries to his face, hands and legs but managed to escape
from them and reach home. The fact that these 4 people were waiting for him as
he got into his vehicle indicates a well-planned and pre-meditated intention of
causing grievous harm to Mr. Naganna for his refusal to aid and abet them in their
    money-laundering activities.
We have filed an FIR no. 143/2008 registered under Sec. 321 ad 506 against the 4
people. We have thereafter learnt that they have filed false complaints against
Mr. Naganna, Mr. Shashidhar Alabur and Mr. Anuj Mishra in Jeevanbima Nagar
Police Station and Airport Road Police Station alleging that they were attacked
    by us.
12th May:The imposters (National Committee) then held a press conference to announce
the dismissal of Naganna based on false allegations of two murder cases. We
have initiated criminal offence proceedings against Mr. Chandrashekhar and court
notices have been sent to him.
17th May:Nalin Jain filed a false complaint in the Girinagar Police Station that, around
6.30pm, Naganna, Shashidhar and Anuj Mishra attacked him at his shop along
with 15 goondas and threatened him. All three members were at our weekly
party meetings at the alleged time of attack for which a register is maintained.
The police have closed the complaint No. C.Misc 166/2008 as a false complaint.
23rd May:Around 4 am, some miscreants hurled large stones at the house of Anuj Mishra
and broke window panes and damaged his car. A Police complaint No.
24893/DWD-2006 has been lodged at the Subramanya Nagar Police Station in this
    respect.
5th June: Web site of Lok Paritran claimed that Shri P.K.Shanbhag has been appointed as
chief Advisor to Lok Paritran. However, he has neither attended the meeting
where he was reportedly appointed, nor has he given consent for the same over
    telephone or otherwise.
9th June: Lok Paritran’s web site prominently displays the photograph of Shashidhar Alabur
with a caption “the new face of corruption,” and in a press conference, Shashidhar
and Naganna have been accused of misusing the Party funds after having
withdrawn the balance amount available in the bank account of the Party. A
complaint has been lodged with the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and the
Dy. Supdt. of Police (Cyber Cell) against the false accusations made on the web site
    of Lok Paritran.
All the funds in the Bank Account of the Party have been collected from donations
from well-wishers and have been used to pay the bills of expenses like printing of
pamphlets etc. In view of the unlawful methods used by the National Committee,
all available funds were withdrawn to take care of unpaid expenses.
It is distressing to see the Founders and the National Committee resort to such dirty methods
to discredit the members of the State Committee who have worked so hard to nurture and
develop the party in the state to this extent. Ironically, it is they who have tried to use the
elections as a means of making money by getting into agreements with a major National
Political party, and they are accusing us to cover their tracks.
The dissolution and dismissal of the State Lok Paritran Committee is unconstitutional/
illegal. The decisions to dismiss Mr. Naganna and dissolve the State Committee are against
the constitution drafted by the founders themselves. Such a decision can be taken only by a
National Council with representation from all states. As per the constitution, a notice is to be
served to the person and he/ she be given an opportunity to present their case. No such
    procedure was followed.
It is notable that the case in Karnataka is not new in the history of Lok Paritran. In every
state where Lok Paritran has started building a base with dedicated efforts of the local
members, the National Committee has broken it apart to serve their unethical needs. This has
happened in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
Karnataka is today, the strongest forte/unit of Lok Paritran, and they have endeavored to
destroy the state unit here as well.
We have, in the past, attributed many of the unseemly statements/activities by Lok Paritran
National Members to their comparative immaturity/young age (25-28 years). We had always
felt that since they were products of reputed institutions like the IITs, their intentions were
noble. Our experience with these members makes us feel that they are a ‘blot’ on these
reputed institutions, and that they have unethically leveraged the names of these
    institutions for their personal benefit.
We would like to state here that we have severed all relations with the aforesaid National
members of Lok Paritran as they do not embody the values and goals with which we have
worked for Karnataka Lok Paritran Unit over the last 2½ years. We, however, intend to
continue our efforts, to regather forces and continue the good work.
    Yours sincerely,
Members of Lok Paritran Karnataka State Unit

We have witnessed the dirty tactics of these thugs in many other states , we are happy that atlast they are exposed publicaly.Their moves were suspicious from the begining. They were not serious about their so called ideology and pr inciples. Their main motive was to float party and use it as a platform to make money. They have tried similar tricks with office bearers of LP in other states as well. We salute members of LP karnataka for standing up to these rogues and exposing them in front of all.Due to their lavish life style and late night parties , these thugs are in need of money and they dont have money to pay the rent for their new karnataka office which was opened for business. These guys have used the lacunas in Indian Law to escape afer doing similar crimes. Youth Party LP was brain child of True Patriot Mr.Ajit Shukla and it was his hard & honest efforts which garnered 30,000 votes for LP in Tamil nadu elections , but he was also humiliated by these so called reformers. He was sensible and honest so he left the party but continued the noble work and as a result we see success of BPD which is expanding. On the other hand LP is shrinking because of anti social activities of Tanmay and his coterie. All devoted people like Mr.Ajit Shukla , Mr.Besen ,Mr.Sharma , Mr.Maran , Mr.Mishra , Mrs. Geeta Gokhale , Mr.Mayur Patil, Mr.Ravi Kishore, Mr.Gowda have left only because of the anti social activities of Tanmay and his henchmen.Even thugs know that they have no way left as no one will believe their eye wash ideology and give them money so they are resorting to dirty tricks by blaming the real reformers like Mr.Shashidhar Alabur , Mr.Naganna, Mr.Mishra and others. They have resorted to character assasination and false allegations against committed paritranites in past also. They are breeding false hope that Honest Leaders like Mr.Alabur will succumb to the pressure tactics and accept their dictatorship and aid them in their nefarious designs. They have misjudged them. These thugs are not aware of the power of Truth and Honesty. Mr.Alabur should not worry about his photographs and false charges on LP website as hardly anyone visits the website except these six thugs. What type of transparency and honesty these rogues are talking if they have hidden from their supporters from last three years that both Tanmay and Chandrasekar are brothers. They are neck deep in corruption and misusing the funds collected during elections in Tamil nadu and other states. They are unfit for a IV grade job as well. In Tamil Nadu , after elections when they were asked about the accounts of funds , they threatened the others and silenced their voices by saying that no one has right to ask us about accounts. So LP is nothing but the family affair headed by Rajpurohit Brothers and few spoons. These spoons will also leave them sooner or later when there is no money to finance their late night parties. and one source confirmed that two of them are planning to leave Tanmay and Chandrasekar , but looking for the right moment and pretext to do so. After Tamil Nadu elections , Paritranites in Chennai circulated a paper ” Other Face of Lok Paritran ” in press in which they have already exposed Tanmay & his spoons of money fraud , corruption , arrogance, anto social behaviour. Ex- supporters of LP in all other states of India happy that finally these thugs got a fitting reply in Karnataka. So we should forget these criminals forever. We all should unite and start working for the work of nation building to begin with eradication of corruption. Youth in India can do miracles if we have honest role model who really believes and sets example by himself. We all are with Mr.Shashidhar Alabur and other ex-members of Lok Paritrana in Karanataka. We invite them to join BPD and work actively for the country.

THE suspended state unit of Lok Paritran, the party floated by IIT alumni, is set to come back in a new avatar. Expelled state unit members are gearing up to launch a national party by the end of the month.

The yet-to-be-named party will be based in Bangalore. It will comprise techies, doctors and other professionals.

Though politicians will not be entertained in the new party, its members will contest BBMP and parliamentary polls, said a source.

“We will float a national party. Techies and doctors in Bangalore are joining hands with us. The formal procedure is expected to be over by the end of this month,” said B T Naganna, former president, Lok Paritran state unit.

“Around 10,000 IT professionals will become members of our party. But no politicians will be signed up. We will enroll young people in large numbers,” he said.

“The party will be a parallel force to the existing Lok Paritran. While Lok Pari-tran’s agenda is building a powerful and prosperous nation, the new party plans to work for social change,” said Shashidhar Alabur, former treasurer, Lok Paritran.

    Blame game

Anuj Mishra, Dr Keshav, B B Khilari, N Krishnakumar, B T Naganna, and Shashidhar Alabur were recently suspended from the Lok Paritran party.

Keshav, Khilari, Krishnakumar and Naganna had contested the recent assembly polls from Shantinagar, Sarvajnanagar, Govindrajnagar and K R Puram constituencies, respectively.

In May 2008, Naganna and Shashidhar were charged with misappropriating of funds and suspended from the party.

The other members were reportedly shown the door for supporting Naganna and Shashidhar.

In turn, Naganna accused the national leaders of the party of money laundering, and claimed he was removed from his post because he refused to be part of the racket.

I am very very disappointed to know that these messiahs with IIT face are heads of money laundering racket. they have failed..

Expelled Lok Paritran members accuse party founders of money laundering

EXPELLED: Shashidhar Alabur, former treasurer of the party UNDER FIRE: Chandrashekhar, founder of Lok Paritran

THE founders of Lok Paritran, a party which promises to clean up politics and weed out corruption, have been accused of money laundering.

Former party members have alleged that they were instructed by the founders to help certain Congressmen convert black money to white.

Shashidhar Alabur, former treasurer, and B T Naganna, former state president of Lok Paritran, alleged that the party founders, Chandrashekar and Tanmay Rajpurohit, wanted them to declare that they had used Rs 76 lakh for campaign purposes.

    Master stroke

“How can we fudge accounts when we know in reality that no candidate of our party has spent more than a lakh, and we fielded just 11 candidates?” asked Shashidhar.

Shashidhar was allegedly asked to withdraw Rs 10 lakh from the party’s bank account. He said he was told that some Congress candidates would give him Rs 6 lakh each.

“I realised then that I was being told to convert black money of other candidates to white,” Shashidhar said.

“Chandrashekar and Tanmay told us that the Congress candidates would give us cash. We were asked to declare the amount as campaign expenses in our books,” he alleged.

    Planning

B T Naganna, former state president, said he and other party members were asked to come to a restaurant in Carlton Towers, on Airport Road, where they requested to “co-operate with the plan”.

“When I refused and came out of the restaurant, some men hired by Tanmay and Chandrashekar, hit me with hockey sticks. In retaliation I hurled a stone at them. They lodged a complaint against me at Jeevanbima Nagar police station,” alleged Naganna.

    Other version

Lok Paritran, on the other hand, has issued a press release, alleging that Shashidhar and Naganna had embezzled party funds.

The press release said the two office-bearers had withdrawn Rs 66,000 from the party’s bank account.

“We have zero tolerance for corrupt workers. So we expelled them,” said the party’s new state president Nalin Jain.

But Shashidhar insisted that he could account for every rupee of the withdrawn amount, which, he said, was utilised for printing handbills and pamphlets for the election campaign.

we have seen enough of blame game by LP heads. Now why you are wasting your time in giving undue importance and publicity to these false prophets. Tanmay Rajpurohit’s activities is nothing new , he is like this from the days of IIT Mumbai. His classmates know his views and have distanced from him. Only unknown people who are naive believes him. Their show is over long back when LP splitted several times in TN , UP and elsewhere. Just call ex-leaders and know the reality.

Now focus on the next steps to create awareness about the burning issues and ways to handle it. People are desperate in India , they need someone who can voice their concern so lets pool the resources to do real work against corruption and dirty politics.

I heard that Mr.Alaboor’s team is making a new party so lets support them in their noble efforts .
