V-day is a marketing opportunity...nothing more. If Hinduism was 'cool' and 'hip', MNCs would have created such an excuse in the name of 'Yuvotsav' or 'Kamdevotsav' or whatever.
Among youth there are intelligent and level headed people. There are also fools who spend their money in such a gimmick. So those who are spending money on this, they deserve to loose that money. How would you stop morons from identifying themselves as morons? Why would you want to do that? There are other things that require higher priorities.
Please move on. We are not Deobandis, neither that should be our model.

I came across this quote some days back. "We say today's youth are useless. Are they? No, parents and parenting was useless!

My thoughts: One who keeps guts to blame parents for his/her failure is the enlightened youth. Atleast that youth realised the importance of parenting. Children and youth are full of energy, utilise their positive energy, if not they are about to meet many accidents in their life.

Jai Hind!

Whenever I read the above or similar comments, I turn wryly to the following:

"Did he corrupt the young? In a sexual sense, no. Alcibiades, the best-looking young man in Athens, famously attempted to seduce Socrates sexually, and failed. But in a different sense, maybe the answer could be yes. What Socrates did was to teach the young to ask questions, which their elders found difficult or impossible to answer. If you were one of those elders, you might well have thought that he was making young people into worse people than they would otherwise have been. In that sense, from the point of view of their elders, maybe he did corrupt the young. It’s a common enough argument, now as then: ‘when I was young we respected our elders; these days there’s no respect any more; someone must be to blame.’"

- Plato, The trial and the death of Socrates, 360 BC

And, also this:
"The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as if they alone knew everything and what passes for wisdom with us is oolishness with them. As for girls, they are forward, immodest and unwomanly in speech, behaviour and dress."

- Quote attributed to Socrates, in The Republic by Plato, written in 360 BC!!!
