Dear Shashi: Thank you for your comments and the various points you have made.

Study of Vedas is indeed something that cannot be taken lightly.

Re "vasudhaiva kuTumbakaM", you are absolutely right - as this post (courtesy Sh Sarvesh Tiwari) clarifies.

the copy, i have, reads - "satyameva jayati" which makes sense, since in parasmaipadi (transitive) verbs, the form is "paThati", "charati", "jayati" etc.

सत्यमेव जयते नानृतं
सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः
येनाऽऽक्रमन्त्यृषयो ह्याप्तकामा
यत्र तत् सत्यस्य परमं निधानम्

==> the third line doesn't need the avagraha, because it is straight svara-sandhi, no visarga removal. येनाक्रमन्त्यृषयो ह्याप्तकामा

==> when putting in roman script, one must use ITRANS or such unambiguous scheme.

satyameva jayate nAnRitaM
satyena panthA vitato devayAnaH
yenAkramantyRiShayo hyAptakAmA
yatra tat satyasya paramaM nidhAnaM

bharat's corrections:
Satyameva jayate naanritam
Satyena pantha vitato deveyanah l
Yena akramantyarishayo hyaaptakaamaa
Yatra tat satyasha paramam nidhaanam ll 6 ll

==>
these corrections are ok in anvaya (breaking of sandhi and prosification of poetry) but not to write the original which must have the sandhi.

I am afraid even 1% Hindus (forget other Bharatiya) know its source and source of many other beautiful great Vedic statements (like Vasudvaiva kutumbakam, Tamasho maa jyotir gamaya, Sarve bhavantu shukhino, etc.)
==> even in the vedic times not every indian knew of these gems.
it is like expecting very school going 5th grader to be able to read and understand schrodinger's equations or be able to appreciate e=mc2.

vedic and upaniShadic wisdom is actually esoteric. it is not for everyone. not because it is a secret, but it needs a lot of time, aptitude and ability to comprehend the deeper meanings of these post-post-doc compositions.

also, vasudhaiva kuTumbakaM - to my limited knowledge i have only found it in hitopadeshaH, that too in a context that this no more is a mahA vAkya or a great thing for neetikAra. it is said by a jackal trying to make friends with a deer, when the crow advises against it, saying jackals are born enemies of deer. the jackal says only small hearted people say this is mine that is other.
"ayaM nijaH paro veti, gaNanA laghuchetasAM
udAracharitAnaM tu, vasudhaiva kuTumbakaM"

4. Besides the Bhagavad Gita, please all read the 11 or 13 main Upanishads (preferably in Samskrit, else good translations by Bharatiya scholars/authorities). There’s none in this world of knowledge which will satisfy one’s hunger (physical, mental, spiritual…) to understand the very existence of ours, the Self, the Supreme Reality, without studying and practicing Vedanta philosophy (BG, Upanishads).

==> we should never even feel sad or make mission that every indian or human being will understand the veda, upaniShad etc. if that was possible, we won't have had rAmAyaNa, mahAbhArata and the purANas, whose main aim was to bring the vedic wisdom down to the masses through stories and applications, scenarios.

there is a reason why only brAhamaNa was allowed to teach, and only brAhamaNa, kshatriya, vaishya was allowed to study the vedas. for the shudra the stories were created - rAmayaNa, mahAbhArata, purANas etc.

study of vedas etc. requires patience, aptitude, ability and selflessness. these BY DEFINITION were the prime qualities of a brAhmaNa, i.e. one who has these is a brAhamaNa.
