US team in Nandigram raises hackles - Pioneer News Service. Excerpts given below:

"Although the American trio are Left-wing fellow-travellers -- affiliated to 'Workers World Party' whose mission is to "fight against capitalism" -- and 'members' of a little-know Delhi-based organisation, 'Anti-Imperialist Forum', their criticism is likely to be seized upon by the CPI(M) to shift public attention from Marxist atrocities in Nandigram to "American interference" in India's internal affairs."

"Clark and his friends are not members of an official American delegation, but such fine nuances will be merrily ignored by the Marxist propaganda machinery while generating anti-American sentiments. It won't be surprising if the CPI(M) now claims that the entire Nandigram affair was an "American conspiracy".

"Strangely, although Marxist cadre have virtually barred everybody, including mediapersons, from entering Nandigram, Clark and his colleagues could visit the affected areas effortlessly. It is almost as if their visit was facilitated by the CPI(M). Hence, they had no problems meeting victims to whom mediapersons have been denied easy access. "

???? ?? ?? ??? ?? ??? ???? ??? Have the CPM concluded that the Taslima issue is running out of steam?

@ Patriot: Brilliant...Thanks!

***

@ Nandan: Likewise, excellent comment...thanks and I liked this in particular:

"<i>I am afraid it is a generation that has lost touch with its past, has no involvement with the present and no planning for the future.</i>"

I wonder whether this also holds true for a vast majority of Indians today...

Great analysis, Patriot. You are right. There is a difference in Kerala.

However, the Communists have been able to destroy agriculture by making it unprofitable to be a farmer. The landlords became landless as a result of the land reforms.

Land reform was a good thing as a measure to reduce exploitation of the poor workers. Unfortunately, within a short while, the Communist leaders themselves have filled the gap with another kind of exploitation.

Now we have a situation where a Communist leader is able to spend over forty lakh rupees for education of his children in foreign universities and the common worker is forced to spend all his savings to bribe an agent to secure a shepherd's job for his educated son, with a foreign Sheikh.

They have seen to it that industrialists are kept away from the State. With no jobs on offer, the educated job seekers migrate. The outcome has been very sad.

The new generation of Malayali children do not speak proper Malayalam since they don't get enough opportunity. They don't learn proper Hindi since they have no backup help from the familty. Knowledge of English is very poor since it is a foreign language. I am afraid it is a generation that has lost touch with its past, has no involvement with the present and no planning for the future.

But it is uncharitable to grant full credit for this achievement only to Communists. The Congress party has contributed its mite to this end in whatever conceivable way possible. One needs a wry sense of humour and skill to grin and bear if one is to survive the doublespeak of the devious leaders. Fortunately, the Keralites are up to it. I am confident the rest of India will soon catch up, too.

What you don't know about Bengal (and did not know whom to ask!):

1. The state of Bengal is under a totalitarian, communist dictatorship, hiding under a facade of democracy. This dictatorship behaves in a fascist manner when it needs to, for example, in Nandigram.

2. The Elections in Bengal have been rigged by the CPM and its group of co-conspirators (CPI, RSP, FB) for at least the last 15 years, on a scale, that belittles Bihar and UP. The CPM has perfected the rigging to such an extent that even the Electoral Commission is unable to detect it or prevent it. I can provide multiple examples of how the CPM rigs the elections, especially outside the cities, which anyone living in Bengal is aware of (or someone who has extensive contacts there).

3. Over the last 30 years, the CPM has successfully transplanted the state government with the party. Whether it is the Police, the lower judiciary, the bureaucrats, the local panchayats, the unions, what the party says, goes. Because most people either are cadre or pay obeisance to the party for their career prospects.

4. The CPM has turned the cities and the "intellecutals/protesters" resident in the cities irrelevant to the political process of the state. They have done this by illegally settling bangladeshis in previously congress dominated seats (it is my bet that these very same bangladeshis bit the CPM in the butt in Nandigram), through the usurpation of govt agencies by the party (see #3) and through rampant use of force (which is not visible to mainstream media).

5. The education system of Bengal, which used to be one of the best in the country, has been decimated by the CPM, through the use of their unions. This is to ensure that the students are either lumpens, party hacks or those who attend in fear. Any student with any drive want to continue their graduation and post-graduation work outside the state. This ensures that there can never be any youth in opposition, with any kind of significant mass to challenge the CPM.

6. Through creating a system of fear among the law-abiding citizens, which is comparable to what used to exist in USSR. No white collar citizen in the the state has the guts or more importantly, the wherewithal to question any party activity. Retribution is immediate and sharp ...... the party is really everywhere. They have rendered political opposition largely impotent through widespread and selective use of force.

Such is the state of Bengal and such are the Communists. This is why the Communists are blood-traitors to this country and why they need to be opposed at every juncture. Today, they control the federal government with just 10% of the parliamentary seats.

Can you imagine the state of India, if the CPM is actually able to spread outside Bengal? (Kerala is a diff case, as the Congress and the communists alternate in government)

The Communists can grin their grins all the way to themselves. They have proved that Nandigram can be replicated in Kerala sans bloodshed. This is what power of terror can do to people.

A Google search for related news did not produce any more links. The Indian English Media seems to have ignored the news since there was no killing. However, it is widely reported in the Malayalam Newspapers.
