I remember a joke I heard when I was a young boy. A man put a classified in a newspaper “Do you want to know how to become a Lakhpati in a month? Please send a self-addressed and stamped envolope along with one rupee. ( Maybe he ignored that cash was not supposed to be sent by post!) He received a very good response from so many people. He replied to them as follows, ” Do what I did. You will also become a lakhpati.”

Mayawati’s case is no different. So long as there are foolish people, the cunning ones will take them for a ride. I am sure the people gave the money for the party. But in Mayawati’s case, she is the party and she is, no doubt, having a party. She is a conwoman par excellence. She has made the victims feel so good and even convinced them to vote for her.
