Can I turn “right” here, please?
Atlantean has written a great post on the deafening silence of mainstream English language media (notably TOI, IBN Live and DNA on the declassified CIA documents (in full here) that reveal the extent to which the Left “looked for direction from Russia and China, sought support and approval and pretty much sub-ordinated national interest at the altar of a dubious ideology and subservience to the Chinese.”
Ironically, it was left (no pun intended) to a selfless blogger, Offstumped to alert us to these 185 pages, which constitute one of the four documents that concern India in the recently declassified list. Thank you Offstumped.
Do read Offstumped’s post to understand the full extent of communist involvement in activities that belie their claim to always act in the “national interest”.
But why the silence from mainstream media?
Well, for one, there are lots of other things of greater importance to write about…such as:
Himesh Reshammiya spotted in a burkha and Woman wins $29,000 for topless stroll…
…And lets admit, who cares about what the communist party of India did in 1950 or 1960, yaar?
Heck, I wasn’t even born then….

….the real influence of the Indian Communists lies in the social and economic policy of the Indian state and the public discourse here.
1. The most vociferous advocates of social justice through the quota system (which in India is reverse discrimination) are communists.
2. The most vociferous advocates of socialism in India are communists. Do remember that Nehru’s disastrous economic policy, followed in spirit by Indira Gandhi, was influenced heavily by Marxists and Stalinists.
3. History writing in India is predominantly Marxist historiography. Almost all our school history textbooks are written by Marxist historians like Ram Saran Sharma, Satish Chandra and Bipan Chandra. These historians claim that their history is objective and rational but a thorough reading will show that it is objective and rational in the Marxist sense (i.e., conforming to Marxist theory) and not in the true sense. Do read Arun Shourie’s brilliant work “Eminent Historians: Their Technology, Their Line, Their Fraud” to get an insight. Most Indians who go to school grow up learning pseudoscience like the Aryan Invasion “Theory.”
4. The Left, consisting chiefly of communist parties, has a mere 60 seats in India’s Lower House out of 545. Yet, in the past three years, we have seen how much disproportionate influence the Left has wielded. The Left enjoys power without responsibility. India’s capitulation to aggressive postures by the Chinese can be attributed largely to the veto power enjoyed by the Left in the UPA-Left coalition government. In short, the Communists are influencing our foreign policy as well. The Left, led by the CPI and CPI(M) vetoed important legislations like the Pension Reforms Bill, with a mere 60 seats in the Lok Sabha.
Nehru’s policy with China was also influenced by the Communists. Nehru had a very soft corner for communists. He only “disagreed with the means.” Nehru firmly believed that one socialist nation will not attack another socialist nation. However, China waged war with India in 1962. During the war, how many Indian Communists took a strong stand against the Chinese aggression? And India lost the war. The psychological effect of that loss on the Indian mind was great.
5. The Indian massmedia has a heavy leftist presence. Many media figures like Barkha Dutt, Sagarika Ghose, Prannoy Roy have Communist sympathies. These are household names in India and they influence public discourse heavily by sensationalism and distortion. The Hindu calls itself India’s national newspaper but in reality it is simply a Communist propaganda machine run by Communists.
They dont enjoy much power in government but they have thoroughly infiltrated India’s institutions influencing India’s social, economic and cultural policy.

thats cos the mainstream secular media is in the payrolls of communists on one hand and saudi arabian money on the other….
prannoy roys connection to communists is very well known. no wonder he and his secular cronies lick the aboral ends of everything that has a link to communism
n. ram of Hindu group is no better. he wud claim china is the best nation in the world and would do anything to defile india or anything Hindu just to please his chinese paymasters.
expecting these rotten yellow journals to be fair is like expecting sun tv to report karunanidhis corrupt practices.

PATNA: Dozens of Muslim students of a government-run Urdu school in a village in Bihar have refused to take mid-day meals cooked by a Dalit woman.
“We will not touch the food. There is no question of taking food cooked by a woman belonging to the scheduled caste,” said Nurjahan Bano, an eight-year-old student of Amri Urdu middle school in Rohtas district, about 150 km from here.
Md Aslam Ansari, a teacher in the school, admitted that Muslim students were not eating mid-day meals for nearly a month. “It is an unfortunate thing,” he said.
“All the Muslim students of the school refused to eat food cooked by a Dalit woman,” villager Naushad Alam added. Some parents of the school students are responsible for the decision, Alam said. “Last month, only a few students refused to eat food cooked by a Dalit woman but later most of the students followed them,” he said.”
Had this been done by Brahmin students, this would have been splashed on front pages, analysed in depth by Barkha Dutt and Sagarika Ghosh etc. But since it involves Muslims, it is consigned to a small column in the inner pages.
