My own little bit…

2 September 2005 2 views No Comment

I recently chanced upon an issue of “Economic Review” (a publication by Deloitte’s, a global consulting firm) that had no mention of India in the section under “Asian Economies”.

I wrote an email to the Editor, half expecting that it would be deleted without even being opened.

Surprisingly, I did receive a reply (reproduced below). I cite this only as a modest example of how we all can, with a little bit of effort, begin to make a difference.

“Thank you for your enquiry about the coverage of India in the Economic Review. We currently only have a small amount of space to cover Asia in the Review, which is primarily a publication on the UK economy. We have therefore tended to focus on the two biggest economies in the Asian region, namely China and Japan. However, we agree that India is becoming ever more important and may well overtake China soon as the next big story. Accordingly, we will be saying much more about India in future editions.”
