Time for a drastic overhaul in Kashmir

Sh Virendra Kapoor says it like it should be. An extract from Sh Kapoor’s article in Rediff (emphasis added):

The point is, despite having preserved the demographic character of the Valley, if Kashmiris continue to betray this country’s trust and abuse its largesse, only a foolhardy administration would continue to pander them even as they behave in a most treacherous, nay, traitorous manner.

It should be noted that in the current round of violence, they have forcibly cut the hair of a number of Sikh truckers while mercilessly beating Hindu truck drivers and cleaners carrying essential supplies to the Valley. Clearly, the agitators do not want a non-Kashmiri to step foot in the Valley.

One is fully aware that certain sections used to soft-pedal Kashmir would react angrily at the suggestion to undo the historical blunder enshrined in the Constitution. One is aware too that commentators with an exaggerated idea of their own wisdom would dismiss the above prescription as impractical and difficult to implement.

But history is witness that when appeasement does not succeed, failure to change course and adopt a frontal approach can only lead to a complete capitulation.

...the time may have come to fully assimilate Kashmir by allowing Indians as much freedom to settle there as Kashmiris enjoy to settle in any part of this vast country.

When the entire political class throws its weight behind the opening up of Kashmir to all Indians, the criticism from the world capitals would inevitably lose its sting. What is needed is a bold and decisive leadership which can lance this wound on India’s body politic But lance it must be. There is no time to waste

Jammu & Kashmir

But does our leadership have the moral courage to face the truth and the strength of convictions to act decisively? Only time will tell.

Comments and thoughts welcome.

I was appalled to read that the people of the Valley are cutting ‘Kesh’ of Sikh drivers carrying food and supplies to the Valley and beating up Hindu drivers. I have a few questions to the Indian people and the people they have elected to govern the nations:

    1. Why aren’t these news seen in any of the mainstream media?
    2. When will people rise and say unanimously that enough is enough, and take some drastic measures? Measures like putting the State on par with the rest of the nation in paying for their own keep, freedom of movement (in short, scrapping special status), stopping pensions and security to the separatists?
    3. The GOI has proved to be imbecile. Shouldn’t the nation unite and demand from their MPs to take firm steps against the

I see no difference between people like Gilani, Yaseen Malik et al and the Naxals. It is like providing protection to Naxals to kill Indian Armed Forces.

If any one of your readers has read “A Curfewed Night” by Bashrat? It makes interesting reading that some of the young people from the Valley went over to POK, got training in firing small arms, hit the officers and men of the Indian Armed Forces. When life became too dangerous for them, they abandoned arms, went back to their families. And to cap it all, Yasin Malik was paying Rs.1000 per month to such people for sustenance. Where was the money coming from? And why is the GOI still pampering him and the likes of him?

This is the ‘fitrat’ – conscience of the people of the Valley. Why should the GOI appease them? For how long, and at what cost? I am talking about the sacrifice of the lives of cream of Indian manhood – officers and men of the Indian soldiers and indignities to the rest of the nation? It is a crying shame.

Selfish leadership at Kashmir has alienated the people of land from Indian mainstream. Abolish Art.370, resettle the KP’s and Sikhs of Kashmir ensure that it is part of our Nation. It is time for the Centre to stop soft pedalling with the terrorist & separatists, why should we fall into their trap everytime?. No media reports atrocities against the truckers/Army personnel, but highlight the mobs who keep pelting stones at the police/CRPF. Appeasement politics started during Nehru/Indira era has reached its peak & now has to stop. Arise Awake Bharath Vaasi & lets ensure that our peace if no more questioned.. Jai Hind, Vande Mataram

    @Ranganathan
It is very strange change that we are seeing in the reports since last few months. Is there a change all of you are observing?
Women weeping, police firing on the crowd. Nothing about the Pak sponsored terrorists, utter disrespect for the state, as if it is really a struggle of the people. Which people? Are all of these genuine Kashmiris? What about whole families smuggled in from other place just to change the demographics? Is GOI so weak?

Is it that the media is trying to send some message to the country? Whose message?

Gypsy, Ranganaathan, GyanP: The situation is indeed dire…Worse than that is the seeming apathy of vast sections of our “middle-class” and “Intelligentsia”…

As I have emphasised time and again, our first challenge is to make people aware of these happenings and force them to think where this might end up…

Pl share these links, news-stories etc…Discuss, debate and make people aware whenever you get a chance…Then hopefully one day, this will all change.

I copy pasting this news from deshgujarat website!!

—The Sunni islamist anti-nationals of Kashmir, recently destroyed a Jain Mandir located on the banks of Alaknanda river in Kashmir valley’s Srinagar city. However, before they could do any harm to the idols, tha Jain Mandir’s priest took the idols out of the Mandir and shifted them to safer place.

Just in two hours of relaxation of curfew, the idols were immediately taken out of the Kashmir valley and are now brought to Ahmedabad, where they will be installed at Ramnagar/Sabarmati based Jain Mandir this Sunday with ceremonial welcome—

Well written and good observation by GyanP

I just want to add why our patriotic leaders of Kashmir never take a STAND. They will never say that Kashmir is a part of India. At least i have not observed it. Everyone says that there must be a solution of Kashmir Problem, but what is the solution? Seperatists or anti-nationalists or whatever we call them are mixed in Kashmir like Salt and Water they are inseperable. Our government’s loose attitude had allowed them to do so and Media they are Breaking the News in the form of Breaking News, Half truth is always Dangerous. I am seriously concerned about this Kashmir issue. Something had to be done or soon we’ll loose our paradise. If any reader has a feasible solution Please Reflect it.

BJP demand ‘Jammu & Kashmir’ split into Two states
    1. Hindu majority entire Jammu Region, Buddhist majority Ladakh District, Shia majority Kargil District and Anantnag district containing Holy Amarnath Temple and required for settling all refugee Kashmiri Hindus called Pandits be formed into a new normal Indian State like any other called “Kashmir” only with permanent capital at Anantnag city.
    2. Rest of Kashmir Valley with all Sunni majority districts of Srinagar, Badgam, Pulwama, Baramulla and Kupwara along with permanent capital Srinagar city be made a separate Indian state with Article 370 of Indian Constitution called “North Kashmir.”
    http://hindunationalismmuslimunity.blogspot.com/
These steps will save the people of Jammu, Ladakh and the Pandits & Shia Muslims from highhandedness of Sunni Kashmiri Muslims of Vale of Kashmir being beneficial to India by restricting separatism and the insurgency to just 15% area of current ‘Jammu & Kashmir’ state. Non-Muslims in both Jammu & Ladakh reduced from 90% in 1951 census to 65% and 51% respectively due to influx of Muslims from valley of Kashmir as per 2001 census and unless these policies are implemented now, even Jammu & Ladakh will become Muslim majority like Kashmir valley very soon!
To return to power BJP need strong economic policy which must be the combination of both labour market flexibility in a dynamic economy as well security for workers:

Along with Scandinavian Social Democratic Economy –
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_model
Following Gandhian Socialism or Integral Humanism BJP got only 2 MPs and crossed 100+ only by pursuing Hindutva & Swadeshi like ousting Bangladeshi & Kashi-Dhar-Mathura-Ayodhya liberation movements! Earlier BJP Govt responsible for d price rise now! BJP introduced Commodity Forward Trading & scrapped Essential Commodities Act and made way for hoarders & inflation ignoring the advice & opposition of Swadeshi Jagran Manch of RSS –

Some days back the sikhs were targeted in the valley to embrace islam or leave/die.

And almost immediately in Media there was this Sunday story in Slimes of India about Sikh militancy(‘Khalistan militants still a threat’ – India – The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Khalistan-militants-still-a-threat/articleshow/6185222.cms)

I was wondering, is there any connection?

why everyone is talking about Kashmir and Kashmir only.
    What about Jammu?
It is also a part of the disputed area.
    Why everyone neglects Jammu.
Being a Jammuite and an Indian, I am definitely not saying that we , the jammuites want Independence, we are very happy and safe under Indian Govt. but one should understand that it is not always fair to look into problems of kashmir only.

First of all the most important thing is all hindu kshatriya Jats,Sikhs,Marathas,Bhaiyas and all other Hindus,Jains,Buddhists should start settling permanantly in Kashmir.Once the Hindu majority in the Valley increases things would improve automatically.
